Default My first run through Iron Tomb.

I apologize if this is the wrong forum to talk about this. I know that my post is nothing special but I just wanted to share my experience in the Iron Tomb.

I decided to try out a new spec and role for my level 19 Rogue, instead of a DPS spec I wanted to see how the Bard or support role felt like. I looked over the different trees to see what would go good with the Bard and I found a nice combo for myself. After I got the squared away I selected both DPS and Support in the LFD tool and as soon as I selected Join I got a hit. So it seems it is harder to find support, I may just stick with that role for now.

The group I was with was great, two of them would explain the boss fight and let us know what to expect. Because of that the fights went smooth and we had no issues. The Bard was very fun to play and even though it seems I do very little, at these levels, I can tell when I forget to use my "Motifs" it makes a big difference. The healing from one of the abilities helped and as we continued through the dungeon I got better and better at playing a support role. Overall it was a lot of fun and I am looking forward to how it plays at a higher level, I may still tweak my other two souls but that that is something I will have to learn with trial and error. I like to find out on my own when it comes to certain things.

Iron Tombs was a fun dungeon and had some creepy dude talking while we battled through the dungeon. There were no special mechanics except for when we had to fight those shade mobs and have to stand next to those orbs. Fighting those three bosses was fun, you fight one at a time and then after that they all come back and attack at once. The final boss was cool looking and the only interesting mechanic was that we had to stand in this magic shield barrier.

Despite me not being in a DPS role we burned down the bosses and trash mobs at a nice pace. And I did feel like I was helping out with the buffs and healing I was giving to the group and the debuff to the mobs. No one complained and we all had a great time and everyone thanked each other for the run.

I will say that I did like the Realm of the Fae a bit better. I liked how the dungeon looks with the change of the seasons as you progress. The final area with all of the snow and blizzard was a bit of a challenge because it was hard to see what was in front of you, so fighting that last boss was fun with the weather effects.

I can't wait to check out the other dungeons. I like to read the lore of the dungeons before I take them on as it gives me a better understanding of why I am there and what is going on and because I do this I have more fun when I do them, might sound weird but that is something I enjoy.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read my post. Like I said I know there really is no point in this post but I just wanted to share my fun experience. Hope you have a great day, take care.

I'm glad you enjoyed them! sadly, most people only come to these forums to complain, thats probably why they havent posted.

Yes, the dungeons are a lot of fun, and i still enjoy them even though ive been through hundreds of runs.

as to my first runs, yea they were very good, but it may have been in a better time. i have had problems with bad-attitude groups when i try low level dungeons these days.

I hope you continue to have more positive experiences! many happy hours of rift!

I'm glad you are enjoying them. I used to run them alot before. I am currently looking forward to the mastermode dungeons in 1.5. From what I hear, they are challenging

I apologize for not posting anything yesterday and thank you all for the kind words.

I do find the dungeons really fun and it is even better when I enjoy my class. I also have a level 18 Mage that I am leveling up at the same time with my rogue. They both have crafting professions that help each other and plus it is nice to play something else to keep things from getting dull. I really like the Necro/Warlock/Chlor combo so far, I always have liked the Necromancer and any game that has it I always make one.

I can't wait for the single player dungeons to come out in 1.5, I love running dungeons but sometimes I just don't have time to get a group together or maybe I don't feel like being in a group. So these new dungeons will help my crave for dungeon crawling, it would be cool if Trion added some of the stuff DDO has for its dungeons. Such as traps and puzzles, it would make the dungeons more fun in my opinion.

Anyway, thank you again for the kind words. I hope more people will post and share their experiences.

I understand, the first time I used the LFD to do my first dungeon run in Realm of the Fae was not so good. The tank was an idiot and acted like a know it all, the rogue was using a pet do the tanking. We didn't even get to the first boss and we wiped twice on trash mobs. But I did not let that one bad experience stop me from using the LFD, even if I sat in Sanctum and tried to get a pug together you can still into bad players.

I may join a guild if I can find a good one on Greybriar, if not then I can transfer my characters to a new server. I love it that Trion made the transfer free, that was nice of them to do.

I think those early dungeons are excellent. You do them at a time when no one is deep into their soul trees, yet they managed to make the boss encounters more varied than simple tank-n-spank. And the dungeons pretty-much work as thematic stories.

I'm glad the OP is having fun with it. Do find a guild if you like doing group material. Of course your character is better geared for doing it, and have fun, too.

    Default You forget sometimes...

I myself have 4 lvl 50s mostly all raid geared so been a while since i did dungeons at a new level.

Here recently rolled a new mage chloro healer (been curious). It has been fun and refreshing to revisit the dungeons at a low level and also to watch new players figure them out. For all you saying Rift is dying I am finding the opposite. Many runs and just about all of them has had new players in it. Not alts but totally new.

Has been fun and interesting to work with these groups and watch them see the new content (to them) and be amazed by it. Love these stories and a lot of reason I keep playing. I enjoy seeing new people and reliving that feeling when I started Rift. and even moreso started gaming. Despite all the bugs, nerfs, balancing (or lack thereof), up and downs, I have had some great times in Rift. Why anyone plays a game should be for those times. Problems happen but that first dungeon or rift or Warfront is the experience we liek to live over and over.

OP good luck and remember that run while you level up!

nice posting. What i would suggest to all twinkers, dont force new people to speedrun through early dungeons, just you know anything. let them make their own experience, explain the bosses and take your time. Obviously thats what playing mmos is all about anyway, spend time in it

I myself like the fea instance a lot as i think its develops very nice and the snow thunder part is just hilarious.

My only concern is Guild drama, I have enough problems with my health and other stuff so I don't need to have issues in a video game lol. But yes I do plan to look for a guild soon, on my server or on another. And even though new MMO's are coming out in the future I still plan on playing RIFT, I am enjoying myself too much to just leave. I will be playing GW2 along with RIFT and another MMO that I have a lifetime sub to, so it is easy to play multiple games and only dealing with one sub.

My gear is actually good, usually I suck at crafting and keeping my crafting on level or better. But here I have been doing great. My Mage can make the jewelry and my Rogue can make the armor for both of my characters, plus my Rogue makes the runes to attach to my gear. So I only have to worry about weapons which I get from dungeons, dungeon quests and regular quests.

Thank you for the kind words!

I always hated when people do speed runs, it happens a lot in WoW. Sometimes it is so bad the healer can't regen their mana fast enough and we wipe then the yelling starts, lol. I wish people would take their time with doing dungeons, if you hate the dungeon so much that you speed run it maybe it is time to take a break from doing them or something. Like you said this is an MMO, it is about being with other players and having fun. They will be a grind all the time, that is just the nature of MMO's and it does not matter how much devs try to cover it up it is still there. Unlike a regular single player RPG there is no need for a grind since the company already has your money, lol.

Yes the thunder snow was awesome and I was so excited when I saw it. I like outdoor dungeons since there are not too many of them in MMO's, DDO has them though.

Thank you for the kind words.

I forgot to comment on this, the part in bold. I find the voice acting to be good and sometimes funny. In Realm of the Fae there are three mobs, two normal one boss, and the two normal mobs were fussing in a high pitched voice. When I heard them talking I was laughing hard. It is stuff like this that makes my time in an MMO more enjoyable, little stuff like that might not seem much to some people but it mean a lot to me.

My favorite 2 instances in the game thus far are Iron tombs and Deepstrike Mines. Trion has some great level designers, IMO, and I wish more of the instances were internal, claustrophobic, mob laden, real dungeon crawls like those 2. They really bring a fantasy aspect to the game vs. some outdoor environment setting. Glad you like it.
