You have ample time to see when he prepares for Mathosian Fury, that's when you start getting the hell out of dodge.
Hell kite him around a pillar if you must, and or have Bard play (Improved) Anthem of Competence.
Kiting him around the pillar worked extremely well.

Easy Peasy even without the purge. Kite him around the pillar when he starts casting.
If thats too hard then I'm sorry but have you considered the timeless advice of "L2P"?
The spikes spawn around the pillar.
There should be a clear path its just about manuevring around the pillar while dodging spikes. Watch the steam and it should be easy.
Even if you ignore the path, spikes are easy to heal through.
Really, I just pugged this.
L2 riftstalker tank :P Just dance the spikes like normal and have the tank kite it, or phase shift away and memory phase back, too easy, a little harder so melee can't stand in anymore (trion hatez melee!!!)
as the boss moves as fast as the tank can and doesnt have to try and dodge spikes how do you avoid the 5K+ hits.
Aye Purge it, Both Necro and Inquis works.
Cyclo in CC is not harder,
Gronik is a tad easier too, but his dmg nerf also includes a fight where the mechanics actually work now..
Just downed him as a warrior tank.
As soon as you see him start to Furry do a 180 and run, watch the floor as you are going around the pillar and change from the inner to the outer if needed. Your team should watch where you are kiting to avoid his aoe at the end of your kite. We usually swapped sides after each kite to make positioning easier.
he doesn't move when he is winding up his aoe, and he is snared when he is aoeing..so no he isn't as fast as tanks...
He's slower when he casts.
Did you even try this at all?
