    Default Fishing

Okay I log in and get server first for upgrading my old fishing rod to the new Atragarian fishing pole. Result I get a fishing pole recipe to make it.

I go place it on my hotbar, and the fishing pole isn't in my bag anymore. So why do I need to make the fishing pole AGAIN?

    Congratulations on the server first!

The first one was a quest item to show you what's involved to make one (it's free) and then he gives you the recipe to make as many as you want.

But Morticus, in ALL PREVIOUS upgrade quests from beginner fishing rod through SL's rod, you are given back the rod after making it. This one you don't so now I have to spend mats TWICE to make it. That doesn't make sense at all.

Wait, you can't make another pole? You can get the recipe from the trainer if you don't have the Brevanic Fishing Pole recipe.

Yes I got the recipe to make another - so it is intended that you have to spend the materials twice? That's not what we are used to =/

its "small oversight" eh? maybe play rift a bit more often? ;p

I didnt like paying twice either. i wonder how many times we have to go thru crap like this, pay twice here, over charged there, there is a term for this BS is called being nickle and dime'd to death, might as well just put thumbscrews and hang us by our toes. It's no wonder so many people hate crafting.

The mats aren't that bad. It isn't what we're used to but that isn't a horrible thing. Let's back away from the hyperbole and keep this constructive, please.

Personally, it surprised me, but didn't bother me too badly.

Yes, why do we have to do this twice when no other upgrade pole required this? Why doesn't it work the same?

Honestly, I never understood why players have a recipe to make a pole that they'll never need to craft again. To me, it seemed like useless UI clutter. We decided to make those recipes useful again, regardless of the trivial material costs.

EDIT: Also, to account for this we've made the 88s Beginners Fishing Pole readily available.

Another question - With my Brevanic Fishing Pole, I never got grey junk when fishing, but now that I have upgraded to an Atragarian Fishing Pole, I'm getting tons of grey junk.

Why does my upgraded fishing pole perform WORSE than my previous one?

How about just getting rid of the recipe making it a one time use & get back to the fishing quest being about fishing? Repetitive daily quests get boring after a while. Having to pay even a "trivial" amount will add to the boring grind factor. The quests should be rewarding, not taxing.

I would like to add that I feel a choice between rep/marks *or* 12p as was in SL would be nice. That was a nice source of plat for me and my stable of alts, and I am disappointed to see it vanish.

Other than that, I love the *ploop!* sound the pole makes when you cast, and how it glows when you must reel it in. Nice touch!

We're looking into adding coin rewards onto the dailies.
