Mage, shall i bother, if so, what shall i level?

Hey all,

I decided to pick up Outfitting and get it up to my level, i am level 30 and my outfitting is 150. Bit of time having to go back to get all the bits and bobs, but now i am thinking was it worth it and should i continue? I mean, i transferred over to a new server, and now i can see a lot more in the auction house, and it seems as if buying armor straight out is slightly better, and in the end, way better, and not cheap. Perhaps instead one of the crafting/tradeskills are a great way to making money?

If you want to make money, don't pick any crafting skill. Stick to gathering skills.

Thanks for responding, apparently there's recipes that aren't purchasable via the trainer which make some incredible armor. For now i shall be continuing outfitting alongside butchering.

If your going to do those two you may as well pick up runecrafting seeing as all three go hand in hand.

I have 6 chars at lvl 37, all professions and gatherers. The statement that you should get gatherers to make money is bs. I've been focussing on getting all available recipes from dailies and notoriety and discovered the following:

cloth products are not very useful, both from notoriety and daily recipes.
artificers do quite well with notoriety recipes and daily quest recipes
armor and weapon smiths do great, but require some hard to get items and lots of planarite.

Ofcourse this could change at higher levels.
