This is probably the most help as it provides me with a comprehensive explanation of what I'm doing wrong as well as helping me write the most comprehensive macros so thank you massively Only problem is that I can't see the two trees you suggest at the start of your post as Rift Zam is currently down Is there an alternate site you could put them on and link me?

    Thanks in expectation

A good friend of mine and a very good warrior tank told me to always always always open with sweeping strikes then use cyclone strikes. Then reaver DOTs. If you are undergeared then you will lose agro, but that is a gear issue not a threat one. See https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...CIez5bMG#gid=0 for gear help. I personally am undergeared compared to my raid so I fix that by going SS>CS>DOTs>ST Taunt>Repeat. On 3 pts I add a Spotters for my DPS guys to hit a smidge harder. If you feel you are still losing threat, go SS>CS>ST Taunt>DOTs>Taunt. I don't use macros since when tanking since I feel it is more reactive. Also recommended is Target of Target so you KNOW if that boss is getting loose. I rarely use an AOE taunt, especially in HK because if there is an OT I don't want to pull agro from that guy. Also last piece of advice is to read up on your boss, he may have a agro dumping ability, which may cause it to get loose. If that is the case, grab it as soon as you can. Also don't feel like you lose agro if the boss does a 180. Sometimes he does a 180 to cast a ability (see Sicaron) and goes back to the tank. I will probably get flamed by the community for this but <shrugs>. I have tanked most everything in HK except King and Inwar.

Why are you using spotters? Post 1.6 it generates zero threat and wastes your tank's gcds. Make your bard do it -- his lasts for longer anyway.

I know it doesn't add to threat, I just use it for the bump to DPS' damage. I don't lose anything by using it really.

Yes you do. Threat. By wasting GCD on ability you are not supposed to.

Threat. Really? With the SS, CS, All my DOTs and the Taunt I throw up? I don't think I lose threat. Its a rare moment that I lose threat with my rotation. But I dunno. I think its fine. If the boss wipes my threat in under 1gcd, a taunt and repeat will fix it before it turns to my DPS.

I don't think you understand how threat works judging from your last post.

Think of it like a total threat amount like total damage done. TPS (threat per second) and DPS just measure how much total threat/damage you have put into the boss. By using abilities that cause zero threat at all you are in effect lowering your total threat on the mob you are tanking compared to what you could have done (opportunity cost). There are no threat wipes outside of a few encounters. Your dps may not be pulling aggro deep into an encounter because they need to have 30% more threat than you on the mob and every time you taunt you take the highest current threat amount on the mob. So if they have done 200k threat and you have done 170k threat you will not lose aggro, then you taunt and get up to 200k and they would need to get another 60k suddenly to pull off you.

That is why nobody loses aggro after 10 seconds into a fight, it is all about the pull and that is where you really cannot afford to be using a spotter's order or something else that causes no threat at all.

I hope that explains a little bit about how it works to you, but it may just confuse you more, who knows.

I see what you are saying. I don't use SO until after I have agro set.....something like 15 secs into the fight. At that point, I don't see it as a loss any longer. But for the sake of argument, what would make a better use of the GCD? I am always looking to improve.

Anything that generates threat is a better raid use for the tank then spotters. Pretty much literally anything that does some form of damage is better.

Either the Bard or Archon are better at putting it up now anyway. The Archon just needs to click a button and it does not really interfere with his rotation.

As for bard, what else is a bard going to do while cadence? coda of cowardice, coda of distress? Archon does it better, and it's part of the Archon rotation. Dps finisher? "spotters" gets more raid dps. Restoration? Not always needed.

So yeah, the Archon and Bard should work out who keeps it up.
