    So in the limited bit I got to play, I noticed something. As a sab I would load up on full 5 blast charges, and then use deadeye shot. This consumed the combo points, but the blast charges remained. I would then quick shot, and Detonate and it seemed like really good burst..

    My question is, when you detonate, does it depend entirely on blast charges or CP? ie, if I have 5 charges but 1 CP, does my detonate blow like a 5 pt charge, or a 1 pt charge. It seemed to be about 3-4 pt charge detonate, based on the previous damage I was doing.

    If it's 5pt detonate, then it seems like a really good way for burst...build to 5, MM finisher, 1cp, detonate.

    What is everyone's experience with this?

    It looked to me like detonate did two separate attacks in the combat log... one was the detonate finisher itself doing damage based on CPs and the second attack was exploding the charges on the target. It makes sense that a 1 CP detonate does full charge damage and only 1 CP detonate damage.

    Damage from charges is going to be the same with 1 or 5 combo points. All more combo points does is change detonate damange.

    I wouldn't go MM with Sab though, they don't have very good synergy.

    To answer your question:

    damage on detonate = damage for each blast charge + detonate damage (which depends on combo points).

    Charge damage only applies when you use detonate, never when you use another finisher. So if you load one combo point onto a target with 5 blast charges, you'll get the damage from the charges + the damage of a 1 combo point detonate. Yes, it'll probably be somewhere in the region of a 3 combo point detonate.



    A further thought:

    If you want to do this the other way around, you can build 5 blast charges, throw an annihilation bomb (this requires about 27 points in the sab soul, the Demolition Specialist talent) to blow those blast charges and confer a 2s stun, then launch a 5 point deadeye shot in the very next cooldown.

    Not tried that ^. bet it hurts.

    From my experience, charges and combo points are independent from each other. I've tried using finishers with nothing but charges on the target, did not work. You have to use combo point building abilities not charges for finishers. You can have 5 combo point and 5 charges on a target, then use a finsher and detonate. Charges puts a debuff on the target, they last for 30 seconds I believe.
