    Default Viable Marksmen w/o Ranger

I really really hate pets I was wonder are there any viable specs that go along with marksmen without picking up ranger for pvp and pve

    Definitely.

Assassin, Nightblade, Saboteur, Bard, and Riftstalker all complement the Marksman.

After a 12 minute kill of the last boss in DM, I realized I need a secondary role for fights where we just need DPS. I really don't want to manage a pet, either, so I'm trying out a Marksman/Assassin/Nightblade build tonight.

This, but the other way around is a different story. Ranger really benefits from MM.

I've been messing around with both builds (MM with or without Ranger) and, not surprisingly, MM without Ranger is very good in PvP/Warfronts or group PvE (i.e. dungeons), but really a headache to solo quest/level. It requires a lot of kiting when you get adds, which can be very tough in high density mob areas like Iron Fortress. The biggest problem is that you don't have a snare with MM - even if you knock back the mob(s) you can't get off a 1.5 sec cast time finisher before they are back in your face. The only saving grace is the talent that makes your longer cast shots instant, which allows you to kill things before they get to you, but it is on a 2 min cooldown. I've actually found myself solo questing in my Riftstalker tank role instead of my MM/NB/Rift role just because of how much of a pain it is to solo without the pet to keep things at range. So if I were you I would plan on using a second role for solo questing if you plan to have your primary role be MM without a pet.

If you're going to solo PvE as a Marksman, without Ranger, then you need Saboteur.

I've slotted Bladedancer as my secondary soul and I don't find that to be the case. Pull a mob, draining it down with a finisher and it should be below half by the time it closes. Then it can be finished off with melee attacks without need for kiting.

If multiple mobs are pulled pop Side Steps and it should give you time to crush one mob before turning on the other. I've found Bladedancer has good defensive utility.

hmm I just created this build, have yet to test it out but I thought it would be a very good one for PvP considering the amount of CC.... crits also should theoretically do a ton of dmg.

    Default my favourite build!

Marksman assassin nightblade, its power cannot be stopped!

little screenshot of a crit i did at level 24, I am 28 now and that damage is what I do normally, not critical. Crits have gone over a thousand but sit between 800-900 most of the time.

It can be a pain to solo without the ranger pet, but its not at all super difficult, you will occasionally run into other mobs when you kite but meh, had to be a trade off for all that damage.

Atm I am 15 in nighblade 7 in assassin and the rest in marksman, can't wait for the next few levels, especially assassins 50% increased crit damage.. if I had that at 24 that crit I linked would of done over 1050 damage, just a shame I had more important abilities to go for!
If my guild tag is red to you, then your already dead...
