Default Ranger/Marksman/Nightblade: Pet focus PVE Raid Build

Hey guys could I get some feedback on this build?

    http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=1M...c0Vz.xhx0V.V0x

My focus is primarily single target DPS (raid boss) with a heavy focus on the pet contributing a decent % of overall dps. I guess if you were looking for a comparison perhaps think a Beastmaster Hunter from WoW.

    So what do you think?

    What about this: http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=1M...oVz.xhx0V.V0xM

    Dropped: Opportunity, Piercing Shot, Exposure
Added: Enduring, Hasten Call, Melted Skin

Reasoning: Since you put a lot of focus on your pet (Prey on the Weak, Blood Rage, Bestial Fury) it would be a waste if your pet die, so I added +25% HP to your pet and a way to get your pet back quickly. Dropped Piercing Shot/Exposure because I have the feeling someone else in the raid will cover that skill and added Melted Skin to make up for it.

Obviously, Enduring and Hasten Call can be dropped if raid boss AoE are not a threat for the pet.

What abilities are you planning on using such as finishers? Because that can change this spec by quite a bit.

With that build your DPS is really going to suffer on trash pulls and multiple adds during boss fights. Also, keep in mind that going 10 points into Nightblade means you're sacrificing 10% crit chance (from 8 points in assassin) for +15% damage. I'm no mathematician so I don't know the exact comparison, but I always try to stack crit when I can. Might be close, since the ridiculous crit dmg nerf, but you also get added dmg from both poisons.

I don't focus on pet dps much, but with what you want, I'd probably go something like this: http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=1M....x0x0V0Vh.0V0c

TBH that seems like a weaker build to me, for a couple reasons:

1.You have no points in Master Huntsman
2.) You put 3 points into Endurance, while it might be nice to have a few extra HP I'm not sure that it warrants putting 3 points there.

So IDK, seems like the overall dmg would be lower w/this build.

Master Huntsman isn't all that useful in my opinion, especially for a 5 point investment.
I put 3 into Endurance rather than Improved Quick Shot, since the 3 points in Serrated Blades is basically the same thing (and works on ranged weapons since the last patch.) Also, gives your pet more survivability when getting AOE'd.

There's pretty much no way this is a lesser dps build. You're also getting 10% more crit chance, poison damage, +15% crit chance on Deadeye Shot (and Empowered Shot) and the added damage from Master Archer.

Not to mention the huge dps boost on groups of trash mobs or boss adds from Trick Shot and Rain of Arrows (and Lightning Fury - 10% increased damage debuff for 10 seconds).

Is what I plan on for pure pve.

Crit buffs from Feral Instincts and Ruthlessness.
King of the Jungle effectively doubles the pets damage output, and reduces AE dmg by 95% .
Night blade points increase all point builders and finishers dmg by 15%
With Feral Aggression I can force my pet to crit for 15 seconds which increases my dmg output another 15% for about 35 seconds because of Prey on the Weak
And if by some chance I happen to get aggro, I can use Divert Rage and Diffuse to move dmg taken to my pet while building aggro for my pet.
Last but not least I can use both Virulent Poison and Hellfire Blades.

I'm planning on having fun with this build.

This is the build I am currently looking at.
    http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=1M...0iuzo.VMcf0Ioc

I'm wondering if Nightblade is better DPS than Assassin.

I think this might be very effective assuming poisons and the fire buff to weapons stack.

personally I like nightblade over assasin

You get a strait 15% boost to combo generating abilities and a 15% boos on your finishers. Also you pick up a CC ability with Lost Hope.

In all liklihood I'll have a build with each Assasin and Nightblade in them at 50, then run a parser and see which of them wins out.

10% chance to crit is 10% chance to do 50% more damage. This is the same over time (statistically speaking) as a 100% chance to do 5% more damage...so it's +5% damage on all attacks that can crit.

15% damage on builders and finishers is 15% damage on most of your attacks (some few attacks you may do aren't builders or finishers), but I'd still say it is at least 12-13% overall damage. If you're not worried specifically about the burst of crit chance, the +damage is much better point for point.

Eh, that kind of defeats the purpose of the way I like to play.

I'm trying to find a build that will maximize both my personal DPS and that of my pet.

I have to think that the blood raptor is at the top of the ranger tree for a reason....i.e. it provides a decent amount of dps for investing that heavy into the tree.

That's what I'm looking for.....the maths! Thanks for that.

    Tadah!

You can trade out points in trick shot for piercing shot and Exposure if you like.
This build gives your pet 58% more Dmg from KotJ and 67% AoE dmg reduction. As well as increasing most of your shots dmg by 15%, and increasing you crit dmg by 20%
