Default I know, most don't like it: tri spec!

    Heya,

I know, most will say, don't spread, focus, and so on... but I like the role of jack-of-all-trades.
I made it to 20 easily (and quickly) with that spreading around. At 18 ( I didn't try before that) I was able to solo 2 mobs of my level or level+1 without hassle (Fortress). I soloed the big guy (forgot his name and NDA?) in the fort even with his pets spawning, without any problem or potion.

With all that said... I'd still like to hear some input of point spreading in these two "roles" I intend to make:
http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0M...IzoMz.AId0booz (more PvPish but I didn't get around to try any PvP)
http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0M...h0MoM.AId0booz (more AoEish, seemed nice vs multiple enemies in PvE, tested in iron fortress)
please do not try to convince me to do specialized specs:
With the last two roles I intend to do a Bard-support FOTM PUG spec and a DPS FOTM PUG for those people who insist that everything that's not FOTM is to be ignored/bashed down/etc. So all those specialization-lovers will get their specialist for those instances, if I bother to PUG in the first place.

Sooo... can anyone give me some advice about the talent spread I had in mind? Please, refrain telling me to specialize! I want to work out a good tri-spec!

I have 2 similars builds and at lvl35, it's already very fun and effective but your dps isn't that high and alone, it may be a problem.
In pve solo, it's a must even if it's labelled "pvp-ish".

Sadly, the PvP build would just be more of an annoyance to the other team than anything. It looks like you're going overboard with damage reduction abilities and don't care about helping out your team at all other than with bard abilities. I don't understand why you have phantom blow in your PvP build either. You'll be better off using your GCDs on heavier attacks or something than trying to keep the 6% damage reduction up. I made some tweaks to the pvp build to allow for quite a bit more damage(backstab), CC (foul play), and survivability.

I find it hard to evaluate peoples specs without actualy playing them. So many of the skills synergize with other souls so you never really know how it goes.

airflow your ideas are nice, I'll think about many

    a few questions though:
why bother with backstab when assassinate does the same but with more damage and more combo points? (at least on paper, I didn't get high enough to test if there are differences)

why foul play when paralyzing strike also stuns and has no cooldown (vs 30sec cooldown)? 3m range seems small to justify it.

why did you drop puncture? 2 combo points, ignores armor (= more damage), bleed... what's not to like?

Anthem of competence... I don't see how 15% running speed in combat can help, hmm... maybe as pure pvp spec? in pve i'd rather run anthem of glory in combat...
if I take anthem of competence, why take anthem of glory?

dropping coda of fury is a good idea, but extended grief is nice for my entire group...?

I agree with Phantom blow, I thought it could help survivability, but I'll have to check first if that's an issue in the first place.

Paralyzing strike and assassinate are only usable in stealth. That point in subterfuge should be in puncture, sorry I didn't see that. Anthem of competence is very important in pvp, chasing people down is hardly a fun thing to do when your entire raid party is on the offensive. When your raid party is doing defense it's better to put anthem of glory up. Coda of cowardice and coda of distress already last for 30 seconds at 5 combo points which is more than enough time to re-apply them. Motifs and anthems seem to be at 30m which makes talented composer a bit redundant (thought i'd throw that out there..)..

I was wondering... how many other skills are only useable from stealth? assassinate, paralyzing strike, jagged strike, those 3?

Do assassins have a way to restealth in combat?

Oh, and did somebody test whether "Shadow Walk" breaks stealth?

Right now the assassin class starts to look a lot less appealing, because many (interesting) strikes are not useable most time, because there is no way the reenter stealth in mid-combat?
