    Default Help on Weapons?

So I was wondering if the weapon speed affects my damage output when I use spells.
Right now I am a melee rogue, but I wasn't to sure what weapons I should be looking for.
Should I be going with slow weapons (ie axes)? Or fast weapons (ie. daggers).

    Thanks again!

    Short answer:
    Use whatever gives better stats.

    Longer answer:
If you're really looking to min/max it depends a little on which PA's you have filled out. For example, Air gives small bonuses to ap when using daggers and dex. But the bonuses aren't really big enough to warrant sticking to just daggers, imo.

    Basicly yes.

The weapon speeds were all normalised way back so that you're just looking at overall ap now. Or at least thats how i was told it.

One thing you should remember though, if you are using Blade dancer you want your best melee weapon in the offhand slot rather than the main hand one.

Assuming that you have the same amount of PA in all weapon types, yes.

Weapon speed itself doesn't affect anything other than autoattacks-- namely, whether you get small, fast hits, or hits that are slightly less fast and slightly less small. The two will average out to be the same overall DPS, though.

The one case where that actually matters is for Nightblade in PvP, because autoattacks can proc Scourge of Darkness, so faster weapons will make your damage burstier by using up all of the charges faster. But it's a tiny difference, and burst doesn't matter a whole lot in PvE, so you can pretty much just ignore it outside of PvP.

Ahhh. Okay I was wondering because I just recently got back into rift >_> so I wasn't sure
if the weapon speeds were normalized.

Weapon speed does make some difference for assassin based builds because of Expose Weakness. Let's say you had swords with 2.1 seconds between attacks vs daggers with 1.8 seconds between attacks. Per minute that is 2*(60/1.8-60/2.1)=9.5 attacks difference. If each attack gets 500 extra from Expose Weakness then you do 500*9.5/60=79 dps more with daggers than swords.

I've never actually looked, Do auto attacks activate when you are on a 1 sec GCD?

Of course. Abilities don't interrupt autoattacks.

The only thing that stops an auto-attack is if you're moving.

Or casting. You auto attack much less in Warlock than in Harbinger. But you're probably not in melee with warlock anyway so it's a moot point
