Default Talk to me theory crafters.

So I stacked up a bit of crit power and dropped a bit of AP/physical crit, I seem to be doing a bit more damage, I'm sitting at 595 crit power at the moment, but I had to sacrifice like 110 AP to get it. Did I make the right choice? I play mostly 61MM, and Tac/Man, while barding 61 ever so often.

It's still a terrible PvP spec compared to Marksman, though.

    Bard: AP wins
    MM: CP wins
    Ranger: AP wins (iirc)
Tac/Man: I'd assume CP. Haven't really looked at it though.

Generally, if the tree has a bit of +crit% talents, then CP is gonna win out.

Ok sounds good then, what about nightblade? I may dabble with that build for some boss fights.

AP wins out for NB by a landslide. If it's the 61 NB. The NB/Assassin build is probably CP.

For Nightblade, AP > Crit Power
theres a nightblade guide that has stat weights.

Yep, and it looks like the nb/assassin spec is pretty close. 1 AP ~= 1.2 CP. But equivalent pieces of gear usually have more CP than AP, so for that variant it's probably CP. 61 NB however would be AP

    I don't think that's possible for 61MM right now.

I'm sitting at 595 crit power for MM, so that's about where I should be? I think it's around 24%

    Use 61mm/6rng/9sin

No, don't do that. I was wrong when I recommended that build.

10ranger/5 nb is, in my opinion, the best overall marksman spec right now. 10sin/5nb can do slightly more DPS on an uninterrupted ST burn, but will fall behind on target switches and AoE, and target switches are very common this tier. The difference between the two is miniscule either way, though, so you can just use whichever one is better for the boss you're progressing on and just not worry about optimizing for farm.

Parses almost the same as 10sin 5nb with about 350cp. He's substantially higher.

The difference between the three builds is so tiny that it's extremely difficult to evaluate it from parses-- RNG will play havoc with the results. In fact, it's so small you can use whichever one you want and there's a good chance you'd never notice, since it's around a 3% difference.

The math I did says that it should take around 45-55% bonus crit damage from CP for 6rng/9sin to pull ahead.

(Also, just to check: are you parsing this in the Dummy Foundry on the PTS, or self-buffed?)

I'm doing parses on live, actually I'm @672 crit power as of this response, there is another rogue in my guild with the same CP as me, but he has epic one handers, he does average 14-15K ST dps. I'm just trying to find the right value to sit at, I'm going to start stacking more AP, I think I'm probably past the breaking point for CP.
