    Best Ranger spec is a MM spec. For PvE and PvP. Pretty much the state of ranged rogues right now hehe.

    Hi copy this from anther post. i found it to be a very good ranger spec.

    Rogue builds

    unbuffed raptor crits with its doublelash for 800-1000 every couple sec. Exposure isn't needed, same with close quarters. Buffed rain of arrows > trick shot, you can still spam fan out or shadow fire + lightning fury + 2x1cp -> conc. blast.

    Still wondering if mm synergy > ranger synergy.

    build I use: http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0M...0M.VMcfuTzszVz

    #show Shadow Fire
    suppressmacrofailures
    petattack
    cast Shadow Fire
    cast Piercing Shot
    cast Crippling Shot
    cast Quick Shot

    m2:
    #show Splinter Shot
    suppressmacrofailures
    petattack
    cast Splinter Shot
    cast Piercing Shot
    cast Crippling Shot
    cast Quick Shot

    m3:
    #show Empowered Shot
    suppressmacrofailures
    petattack
    cast Empowered Shot
    cast Piercing Shot
    cast Crippling Shot
    cast Quick Shot

    m4:
    #show Rapid Fire Shot
    suppressmacrofailures
    petattack
    cast Rapid Fire Shot
    cast Deadeye Shot
    cast Head Shot

    rotation:

    m1 -> Headshot
    m2 -> m4
    m3 -> m4
    m2 -> m4
    m1 -> m4

    with the ranger cristall you can do another m3 before refreshing shadowfire. And they fixed petattack, no need to manually force the pet to use his abilitys.

    her's 1.5 Ranger Build
    Souls: http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=1M...oVz.g0x0V0A0bM

    Macros:

    #show Quick Shot
    suppressmacrofailures
    petcast Rend
    petcast Bloodied Blow
    petcast Razor Lash
    cast Splinter Shot
    cast Crippling Shot
    cast Quick Shot

    #show Head Shot
    suppressmacrofailures
    petcast Rend
    petcast Bloodied Blow
    petcast Razor Lash
    cast Rapid Fire Shot
    cast Head Shot

    #show Trick Shot
    suppressmacrofailures
    petcast Rend
    petcast Bloodied Blow
    petcast Razor Lash
    cast Trick Shot

    The rotation is pretty much the same as in Sozu's Ranger spec. The change is that you now cast Splinter Shot when standing still. When you need to move, the macro simply forgoes it.

    Put up Shadowfire first, then the quick shot macro to 5CP, followed by Head Shot (NOT the macro), then again quick shot macro until 5CP, followed by Head Shot Macro. First separate Head Shot is for the 5% damage bonus, else you use Rapid Fire Shot first.

    For more than one target, use Shadowfire, Trick Shot to 5CP, Concussive Blast, then Trick Shot 5CP, followed by Head Shot, 5CP Trick Shot again, then Head Shot Macro.

    For more than 5 targets: Shadowfire, Trick Shot to 5CP, Head Shot (again the 5% boost), then Rain of Arrows until Shadowfire is up again, use Shadowfire, Trick Shot 5CP, finish with Concussive Blast, go Back to Rain of Arrows. Next Shadowfire refresh finish with Head Shot to refresh the 5% bonus.

    Also use Rain of Arrows if there's less than 5 targets, but they're too far away than Trick Shot ricochets off of them. With Rain of Arrows you will most of the times still be able to reach them (mostly when 2 tanks are tanking parts of an aoe situation). You'll get a feeling for it ;)

    About Shadowfire: watch when it becomes available again, if it does, fill up to 5CP, apply finisher, use Shadowfire after the Finisher as first ability. That way you make you make sure Splinter Shot always gets used when you have more than 2CP free so you don't lose out one.
    (Finisher -> 1 free CP -> Shadowfire -> 3CP -> Splinter Shot 5CP -> Finisher). The only time Splinter Shot gets "out of Synch" is when you had to move. Don't worry, after you reapply Shadowfire after the Finisher, it will be back in synch. This is why Shadowfire isn't macroed in. Also, don't use Shadowfire in an AoE situation to fill up the last 2 CPs and then hit with Concussive Blast. Much damage hitting nearly at the same time.. it's very prone to pull aggro. Don't ;)

    You obviously always use the Blood Raptor as pet (roughly 280dps from it).

    I was running a T2 with Adder who uses a 51MM/15Rng Spec with nearly the same gear as me. And to our combined supripse, we both pulled the same dps nearly all the time. It will depend on the armor rating of the boss, which spec is better. I suppose that, for mage type bosses, the MM build will be better as they can just use Silver Tip Ammo for 20% damage increase and Electrified ammo, while this will still use Rending and Electrified. And on low armor bosses a 20% damage increase will be better than 25% armor penetration. This is also slightly less movement dependant than the MM build, as not as much of it's damage bonus comes from standing still (in fact, the damage bonus from the Ranger and MM trees in both the 55MM and this build is exactly the same, the distribution is just different. This one depends more on Shadow Fire, the other more on standing still). And yes, we were also in HK with those specs, and.. thanks to all the lag associated with patchday we didn't get any good comparisons. The QuickDPS in-game addon showed us within 20 dps around 1.7k on Murdantix, until one of us got hit by a lag spike, or hit by damage while a healer was hit by lag. ;)

    That said, as soon as there's more than 8 mobs, this build pulls off in AoE DPS and is behind the mages.

    Buffs to use:

    Predatory Instincts (+AP)
    Electrified Munitions
    Rending Munitions

    Gear: Good Bow (or Gun), Ranger Synergy Crystal

    Edit:

    why RS?!

    Simple: Assassin Poison that you get with 0 points is worse than either of the two other weapon coatings, and you can only use 2.

    Also, Shadow warp, carefully used, can save your *** in so many situations. It's able to remove *most* movement impairing effects (in raids, you should have healers too who can cleanse, for everything else you have Escape Artist) and shifts you 15min forward. In one of those AoE effects on bosses? No problme! Shadow warp out of it. On ghost interrupt duty on Zilas and that ghost is about to release Dark Volley, but staying in range is going to get you killed by the beam? Shift through the beam, interrupt the bastard! >
