Default Rogue Utility DPS Spec: Arrow Dancer

Ok this spec will not put you on the top of the ACT parses but what it will do is give you a tremendous tool box with respectable DPS thrown in. I devised it after a few runs through Drowned Hall and Gilded prophecy. In DH Interrupts were needed on boss 3. in GP eradicate was needed on the final boss so i tried to figure a way to have both since Deaden was on too long of a cool down to be useful on DH boss 3

    Please excuse the typos

    Enter the Arrow Dancer

On the boss dummy, in melee distance, I can hit 1,500+DPS during the burst phase 1,100DPS on the mini burst [reload and imp hit n run], but then DPS drops during the cool down phase. Without raid buffs I was able to average 722 DPS measured from start to restart of burst sequence.

On the same dummy, outside melee range I average 528DPS

I am semi raid geared with 44DPS bow from DH

This thread is full of information Trimen has used this spec a couple times on our raids and has always helped.

very very nice, i considered a similar build but said meh, a cleric can purge and warriors can interrupt so decided to min/max instead
Useful Rogue guides since I don't want to answer 50 billion questions anymore:
Marksman, Ranger, Nightblade, Blink'Blade, Asstalker, Assdancer, and finally The Hoko Spec™
Hoko, teaching noobs the way of rogue pve until 12/20/11.

If the rogue can purge and interrupt and DPS it allows the cleric to focus on heals/dps and the warrior to keep massive damge going. vs single targets this is a solid DPS build but falls by the wayside vs other builds that do massive AE damage. I would use your Hoko build for normal encounters but switch to this build for special encounters. I have not tried this build in warfronts yet.

cleric dps and hybrid builds both have purge, cleric healing builds do not.

all warrior builds have interrupt (on a 6-8s c/d no less) and neither tanking or dps lose anything by hitting it.

for a rogue to do both, they lose over 1000dps if they min/maxed for dps.

yes it's nice for a rogue to do 2 jobs in one build, but by doing so they are now not doing anything else. in GP/DH it can be mandatory depending on group makeup, but id never run this build unless i absolutely had to (like running bard).

I always keep a 44+ Marksman spec in my role rotations for just such a reason. I had always considered fiddling with Bladedancer, but never really felt the need to do so, and put the points into sin instead and just took the 51 point pedestal. I know it's silly to theory craft at the moment with the way Marksman is going to be totally redesigned, but have you tried using Assassin instead of Bladedancer? How do the two parses compare?

The thing is that Eradicate has 0 cooldown, and Deaden can have a 35 meter range. Both are very useful when most interrupts have significantly smaller ranges.

I have to disagree with you. The beauty of my build and macros is that you can do decent DPS while you are doing everything else. I contribute good DPS to the Idols or crystal prisons but keep the boss focused to fire off an intterupt or eradicate as needed without changing targets. My empowered shots post deadly strike crit for 1900+ per shot. I do 1.7k DPS in my main burst phase, and about 1.4kdps in the secondary one. between phases it's about 598 DPS. Using ACT I had a overal DPS of 719 From 1st hit to the second Blade Tempo and Improved hit and run come back up (2.0 minutes). bare in mind I do not have full Raid T1 let alone HK gear.

Hoko you want to try out my build and let me know what you parse. I want to see what can be achieved with a fully geared rogue.

Just rember this is a melee role even though it centers on the marksman.
