Default The Comeback of the Raid-Nightblade

    41 NB / 19 Sin / 6 Rng

    Macros:

    2-CP
    #show Dusk Strike
    suppressmacrofailures
    cast Dusk Strike
    cast Puncture
    cast Twilight Force
    cast Backstab
    cast Primal Strike
    cast Crippling Shot
    cast Quick Shot

    1-CP
    #show Twilight Force
    suppressmacrofailures
    cast Twilight Force
    cast Backstab
    cast Primal Strike
    cast Crippling Shot
    cast Quick Shot

    Rotation:
=> 1x Fiery Spike while running in
    => 2 CP => 2 CP => Scourge of Darkness
=> Dusk to Dawn => Blazing Strike
=> repeat, keeping SoD and DtD on CD, not clipping CPs

    NRG management per 2min:
    0s: DtD
30s: Verse of Joy OR Ebon Fury
    60s: DtD
90s: Verse of Joy OR Ebon Fury (whichever is left)
    120s: DtD (repeat)
    Tablets naturally help.

    Notes:
    * pure melee, pure ST build
    * ranged anytimers are OK, only use ever Headshot when at 5/5 CP and 100 NRG
    * token AOE from Weapon Flare (think bursting small adds on Matron)
    * sadly no interrupt
    * gear for crit till soft-cap, then AP
    * use Hellfire Blades and Smoudering Blades, except replacing SB with Lethal Poison if no other Rogue can provide
    * try adjusting SoD with 5/5 Heat Retention

    DPS:
    * For the whole raiding week, this spec was going toe-to-toe Sabdancer, and slightly outDPSing Hoko, despite being worse in gear (T3 token with Murda 1h vs full P8).
    * DPS comes from spamming finishers at a very high rate, in particular Blazing Strike at 80% critchance (45% soft cap + 15% raid + 10% talents + 10% ImpBS), which easily goes over 5k in proper gear. SoD is rad, too.
    * Great extra damage in critical phases below 30%.
    * Very good scaling expected with NB Synergy crystal.

How would this perform compared to Sabdancer for fresh 50s? Got two crafted axes (the bad ones, not the good ones) and a mixture of p1 pvp gear and blues. Hit is fine.

I wouldn't expect wonders, but especially at lower gear levels rolling Fiery Spike is very solid and steady DPS.
That said, this spec really shines once you have a some decent crit rating and a nice weapon, and bring that to the raid environment with all its buffs - great modifiers carry you from there.

I have the hit to get into t2s now, I think I'll try this out in the coming days.

I really like NB for PvE and I like your spec.
Just one question: why Crippling shot and not Bolster for less dmg?Is the dmg of crippling so good and it is used so often?

Crippling Shot is the hardest hitting ranged CP builder in the Ranger Arsenal.

CS hits noticably harder than QS, and during all movement phases you have short times when not in melee. First you want to use it to rebuild some NRG, but then you want to make sure you lose as little as possible DPS in those seconds.
I also found that far more often than not, you're dead anyway in a raid when the sh... starts flying and heals are slacking. But in the end it's a matter of taste.

wouldn't it be better to use #show back stab since it would gray out if you were not standing behind the person to indicate you need to re position?

If you feel like that - yes. In a raid I never had problems standing behind stuff, anyway (standing in front get's you cleaved far too often.)
I like TF there, so I know when I might want to hold for a sec to reg NRG, anticipating movement and keeping to use my strongest builders. YMMV

You have your entire 1cp macro in your 2cp macro. whats the reason for creating the 1cp macro?

You don't want to waste CPs, as your damage is very dependent on a quick succesion of finishers.
When at 4 CPs, you want to save your 2 CP builders for your next rotation.

you only have 2cp building abilities, wouldn't you also be able to just put those two on their own button and just spam the 1cp macro when they are on cd?

I would rather use these macros:

    #show Puncture
    suppressmacrofailures
    cast Puncture
    cast Backstab
    cast Twilight Force
    cast Primal Strike
    cast Quick Shot

    #show Dusk Strike
    suppressmacrofailures
    cast Dusk Strike
    cast Backstab
    cast Twilight Force
    cast Primal Strike
    cast Quick Shot

But only because i'm too lazy to pay attention.
And change them between rotation. with ~1,25GCD because of energy starvation u end up having 10GCDs between Punctures... works fine.
During Verse u might wanna use a different macros tho.

And 1/3 imp Quick Shot > Crippling Shot iirc.

But nice seeing the good ol' 1.0 cookiecutter NB specc.

I was going to ask if puncture should be ahead of dusk strike myself.
