    Unhappy Low sabdancer DPS and question about essences

    Good day all,

    I just switched to the sabdancer build and i must say i'm disappointed with my own performance. I managed to parse about 850 dps with a heroic potion and a cup cake and tablet self buffed on the boss target dummy. To be honest i was expecting much higher figures seeing that i have 2 x 33.6 dps daggers, T3 head and feet, deathbringer chest, werewolf shoulders and all else is T2 gear. At the moment i'm on 997 crit but only have 624 ap. I have stacked crit on the essences and i have removed the necrotic semblance greater and replaced it with a lesser essence. As a trinket i'm using the alfwar one from GSB that procs for 45 ap and it's up most of the time. My rotation is the following.

    Opener:
    5 x spike preload
    deadly strike
    puncture
    spike
    det

    5 x schrapnel
    det
    3 x spike
    puncture
    deadly strike
    2 x spike
    det

    I can't understand not being able to break 1k dps on the dummy it's real confusing if you guys could give me any tips on what to do it would be much appriciated. As it stands i can out dps myself using the Hoku spec 2.0 (997 dps) and the tribrid spec (940 dps) quoted on sparrow's site. I do need help here as the single target damage doesn't seem to be up to par. Regarding the essences, I know it's too late now cause i replaced it but do you guys use static essences or ones that proc? Also now that i'm close to the crit soft cap how exactly do i go about getting more ap? Thanks again guys.

    Wrong rotation, but I'm happy you're not using it as a ranged DPS spec. I've seen that, and it make me want to not even explain the build.

    5x Spike->deadly->1x spike-> Detonate-> 5x Shrapnel-> Detonate
    Following that rotation you should repeat:
    3x spike->puncture->deadly->2x spike->detonate->5x shrapnel->detonate.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for the reply the only difference i can see in the rotation is that you don't use puncture in the opening. Would that be the reason for my dps loss?

    I've got like T2 gear with one piece of T3 gear (Shell Encrusted Bow) and I was parsing about 1.2k on Plutonus (one exquisite whetstone, one fine whetstone, mighty powersurge vial, two 29.2 dps daggers)

    My rotation is:

    (Pre-pull 5x Spike) > Incriminate > Detonate > (Blade Tempo during GCD) > 3x Spike > Puncture > Deadly Strike > 2x Spike Detonate
    5x Shrapnel > Detonate
    [ 3x Spike > Puncture > Deadly Strike > 2x Spike > Detonate
    5x Shrapnel > Detonate ]

    Repeat bracketed. Using Poison Malice and Blade Tempo as they come off c/d.

    Use the rotation I listed. There's a varying one I'm working on, but that is the RIGHT one.

    If you use puncture immediately after deadly then the DD boost doesn't affect charges. You were doing that in your rotation, hence the DPS loss.

    The standard rotation is

    Puncture -> Spike x 3 -> Deadly Strike
    Spike x 2 -> Detonate
    Shrapnel x 5 -> Detonate
    -Repeat

    The opening shouldn't matter on say a 10 minute fight/parse as much as making sure you're doing the rotation properly.

    my tips:

    - dont listen to zaros. it doesnt matter if you hit puncture at the start or the end of the rotation.
    - use Tnanever rotation (if you use puncture in your opener or not doesnt realy matter)
    - higher AP results in higher parses ofc. rumors says that sabdancer favors high crit builds tho.

    guess thats all, rest is practice. your dps drops if youre not 100% in melee range for procs and serrated.
    take a 5-10 minute parse and post it, maybe we can help more then.

    you should be able to deal more than 1k at the dummy IMO.

    Backstab requires you to be behind your target, puncture does not. It makes massive difference on things that doesn't have an obvious back (eg. Big Bombs on Johlen) or fights where you are not always behind the target (say Warmaster or Murdantrix (on the side)).
