Default Best MM keybindings for movement?

    Fellow marksman,

I am having trouble juggling the keys to move through warfronts fluidly and accurately while firing various shot combinations as needed.

I use the A key to strafe left, which allows me to use E,R, and F. But if I have to strafe RIGHT with the D key, I cannot hit the keys I need and still keep running!

The mouse has some keys which help a bit.

What do you use to run and gun with speed and accuracy?

I'm a total noob with keybindings in this 'style' of MMO since I played FFXI before and it was a complete keyboard + tab target game. None the less, I'm trying to learn the popular way of keybinding + mouse turning, and what I've done is put:

    1: Strafe
    2: Swift Shot
    3: Rapid Fire/Hasted Shot
    4: Barbed Shot

    Q: Empowered Shot
    E: Deadeye Shot
    Shift+E: Bullseye

    F: IHR
    Shift + F: Reload

The Q/E binds I've only tried for ~1.5 hours worth of PvP as I just tried to bind A + D to strafing, but even then it was actually pretty quick. I still sometimes f-up and press Q/E to strafe and find myself trying to cast a shot when I want to run.

I've put Z,X,C,V and their Shift counterparts on more defensive/situational used abilities like Static Shot/Break Free/Cleanse Souls/etc...

I just used A,S,W,D and right-click my mouse to jump-turn shoot.

My keybinding are all 1-5, shift 1-5, or alt 1-5.

i use left and right mouse buttons to move when not needing to click on people. Then that leaves my left hand to smash the keyboard, however in some situations i obviosuly need to strafe.

    i use

    q
    e
    z
    x
    c
    f
    as my shortcut keys

I found that out of all the rogue specs my MM has by far the most useful keybinds. I ran out of room using

    1-6
    q
    e
    r
    t
    f
    c
    z
    x
    v
so i shift modded q,e,r,t as well

    Razer Naga ftw.

12 number keys at your right thumb, with your left pinky and thumb on the Control and Alt keys = ready access to 36 keys of love.

A little clunky with mouse turns and ability usage.

Consider one an investment in this and all future MMO's.

    Default mouse buttons for movement

I use the right & left mouse buttons as they come default, middle mouse button for moving backwards. I have a Logitech M510 mouse, which has 2 thumb side buttons I use for left and right strafe. I only use one keyboard key for moving forward when I want to use my right hand to scratch myself. Otherwise all movement with right hand/mouse. I just found it impossible to use the keyboard for skills/attacks AND movement or strafing. Once I start strafing with my thumb it really helped my movement will attacking. Especially my pvp.

    1-5, q e r, z x c, + shift combos + some alt combos (the easy ones)
f is my self-target keybind in all mmos. v is my mount

annd, a and d for strafing. Do not EVER use keys to turn your camera, that's silly.

You can also shift your movement keys from WASD to ESDF. This will give you a few more keys at the
left side of the keyboard and still be able to reach ctrl/alt/shift comfortably.

I have a G700 so it's a bit different for me. I remember before I had it (got it quite recently) I used the keyboard all the time without much of an issue. I had some difficulty similar to what you are doing now. All I can really say in regards to strafing would be to put the skills you are most likely to use while strafing on keybinds that don't require your "strafing fingers" aka the ones you use to hit A and D.

Another thing that has been rather natural for me would be to shift fingers to other keys situationally. If you're strafing with D, use your middle finger to hit E instead of your index finger. It's an effortless movement for me, I can't imagine it'd be that much harder for you. The same applies for most keys, act like you're playing guitar hero or something (lol). Home keys do not apply here.

Buy this. Almost no learning curve, unlike the Naga.
