    Default Weapon Speed

I have two 29.2 dps weapons one being a slow 2.4 axe and other being a fast 1.8 dagger. I have been going dagger main hand axe in off. Is this correct?

Weapon speed is irrelevant for skills. It's normalized.

this, however, you will get more poison procs and spotters orders procs from faster weapons. if both have the same dps, and the same stats, go with the faster weapon.

It's quite a large difference now too.

Fairly certain Whetstones are not normalized either.

I know there was some testing in the War forum that Daggers vs Axes could be as much as a 100-150 dps difference. So really a rogue should see even more difference with our weapon enchants.

Planning on testing this more this week.

Basically the damage from the whetstones is applied flatly to the weapon and not normalized. So, obviously with a faster weapon, a flat +12 damage is superior.

Here is a topic outlining the current disparity between the 2 weapon types. There are obviously a laundry list of problems currently.

Well the question at hand is whether he should mainhand the 1.8 or 2.4 speed weapons with identical DPS. You will have identical numbers for your ability damage AND your overall DPS with either weapon mainhanded unless you are using whetstones.

It's true that a 1.8 speed weapon will get more procs than a 2.4, but if you're using one of each it doesn't matter what hand they are in. You will still be using an ability every time you have the energy, and both weapons will still auto attack every 1.8 and 2.4 seconds, so you'll have the same number of attacks per period of time with either one mainhanded, meaning same number of procs of poisons, trinkets, essences, etc. If you had two 1.8 weapons or two 2.4 weapons, you'd want to use both of the 1.8 ones, but if you're stuck using one of each then which hand they are in doesn't matter, with one exception- whetstones.

Whetstones apply their +damage before the weapon damage gets normalized, which means whetstones have a larger impact on faster weapons than slower ones. Since your attacks use your mainhand weapon to calculate damage values, you'll get better numbers with the faster weapon mainhanded over the slower one.

Just remember that fast/fast would be better.
