    Default MM Strafe worth getting?

Rank 4 Strafe : 1334-1343 Damage OVER 4 secs (Not counting + weapon damage)
    20% dmg in pedestal.
An overall of 1600(with 20%,Rounded) total damage over 4 secs.
    1600 damage / 4 secs = 400 DPS
Assuming the ranger has end-game gear / raiding pve build.(average 750-1000 dps)
This means strafe is actually not worth getting or am i missing something?

It gives you 5 combo points. Heat Retention procs of it. It can Crit meaning it can exceed its said given amount. Its also stat enhanced. You can build combo points with it faster compared to x5 Swift Shot (I guesstimate! )

I like it works great when h and r is down. Also if someone goes to LoS you pop a barbed arrow onem and follow up with strafe. The watch them die and have a giggle.

Also once activated, as long as the target doesn't break LOS with you, you can run away from them and the skill shoots arrows / bullets over your head. Crossfire also works like this. Pretty neat skill to lay the smackdown on people chasing after you!

It also costs less Energy to do it's damage than 4 Swift shots.
Maybe he just wanted to steal our wire cutters. You ever think of that?

This is the biggest thing about Strafe. It is best used to help you sustain dps while regenerating energy. After you finish a complete Strafe channel you should be at 100 Energy.

Strafe is not worth using if you're not on your Pedestal however. (PvE only)

It is pretty brutal that when the first shot misses, it doesn't even fire with the rest of the shots. Instantly losing 60 energy and kicking off a 1m cooldown without accomplishing anything is painful.

Strafe is very useful in pvp. One of the big reasons is that it will continue to hit even after breaking LOS. So use other hits then either when they start to LOS you, or when you need to LOS them, pop strafe.

So is the tooltip for Strafe a leftover from the original pedestals? It specifically says you have to be ON the pedestal for the increased damage. Maybe they just forgot to change the tooltip when they gave pedestals a 15 second timer?

You get a new buff that counts down for 15 seconds. Just put one down and run over it every once in a while.

It's a PvP skill and useful for PvP as stated by the various posters above me. It's also a useful energy management tool as you regen energy while using it, so even in PvE it is useful if used in this way. However why you would be going this deep for a PvE spec I have no idea as deep MM is terrible for PvE.
