Default Best low level PVP rogue specs?

I'm up to level 16 and want to hit the Black Garden tonight when I get home. It'll be my first time PVPing with this char. What type of spec should I use?

I'm kinda thinking some sort of range class like MM / Ranger / Assassin?

    http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=1MfNM.v0zoV..0V

Not too familiar with rogues and different synergies, looking for advice/help on what a good low level rogue pvp spec would be.

    Thanks

I've been playing around with Rogues since launch, but just tried PvP for the first time yesterday. (I knew there was no going back, so tried to delay it as long as possible)

I leveled 10-13 in Black Garden yesterday as NB/MM/Sab and it has been a lot of fun. I have no idea how 5% crit and poison from Sin compares to 15% extra damage on Swift Shot, but having 30% increased damage on my bread and butter is nice.

edit: link seems broken, it's 4 Sin, 13 MM, headed to a meeting, can't diagnose right now.

oh nice catch thank you, I did not realize nightblade had stealth too. but its called "conceal"? thats the only reason I added assassin, is for the stealth, so I could sneak in and out of position. here is my new updated spec... this looks really nice

    http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=1MfiN.v0zomz.V

so i get my stealth and extra 15% dmg from NB, I get a free pet from ranger, and get some good cooldown save me buttons in MM to kite/break CC and knock players back.

    so questions:

    1) How easy will it be to see me with only 5 in NB when I am stealthed/concealed?
    2) Is there a better 0 point soul I should put points into, other than ranger?
    3) Can Marksmen use bows and get the same damage? Or do they require guns?
    4) When switching between melee and range abilities will the proper weapon auto-equip? Or do I need to add a macro to toggle from ranged to melee? (for the future, when I get incapacitate etc)

    Thanks

    1. I am mostly MM, just throwing extra points in NB for the bump to CP generators and finishers, so I am always going to be at range. So even when I am stealthing, I never get close to anyone. Without Silent Footsteps from the Sin tree, I think you are pretty visible, especially if you are at the low end of the level range and fighting those nearer the cap. As I said, I never get close enough, I just stealth long enough for the Guardians to choose targets then pop out and start DPSing.

    2. I prefer 0 pt Sab for Adhesive Bomb. Slows all targets and has a very short CD. It's great for keeping range on melee opponents and great for keeping them off the teammate with the shard, or slowing them when they have the shard.

    3. Bows and Guns have equivalent DPS. The main difference is that gunshots hit instantly and arrows have a travel time. I still choose bow or gun based on whichever has the better stats / DPS.

    4. Having MM or Ranger soul, even at 0 points, makes you automatically switch between melee and ranged weapon based on range. Also, not sure if you noticed, but Lost Hope, in the NB tree, is the same as Incapacitate, but has a 20m range. If you have both, there's really no reason to ever use Incapacitate.

Vex, you can try MM, but if you want to have some real fun, I mean pure laughable enjoyment, try a saboteur. The burst at this level is insane. I went from 14 to 20 in 2-3 hours last night just BGing and popping out the guardian dailys in between BGs.

It's ranged DPS with nothing but mobility. Everything but traps is instant - charges, bombs, detonate. When you det, there's a good chance you will almost smoke your target. If they are 75% or less, it's a guaranteed kill if you're 18-19. The setup time is long though, be ready for that. Five GCDs with nothing to show for it damage-wise; but the boom is better than sex. It's fun to drop a chemical bomb (aoe dot) and then an adhesive bomb to keep them loitering in the chem. Here's the spec I ran throughout the evening's events. My other spec is bard and I would switch if we were short on heals, but sabo is too much fun!

That was my problem with Sab. Five GCDs with nothing to show for it, then they still have 20-30% life after Det so you have to Charge a few more times, and Det again.. nope still a sliver of life, Charge and Det again... Or, I get 5 charges on, but by the time I do, the rest of my team has already done 80% of his HP, and most of the Det is overkill. And the 20m range on everything is brutal.

I am definitely going to check out Sab again at 21, though, when Annihilation Bomb is available and again at 26 when Residual Shrapnel becomes available.

edit: Derp... nm, Anni without Demo Specialist is meh, so I will try again at 28, when I have Anni, Demo Specialist and Residual Shrapnel.

Ranger pet + Shadow Fire + Crippling Shot + Piercing Shot + Quick Shot + Head Shot

Boring but very effective (remember to focus fire)

This is a good point too. I usually take at least 3 in Remote Clipping which brings it up to 26m, but it's still shorter than the 30m standard for MM and RGR.

Does anyone know if the MM talent Keen Eye classifies sabo charges as a ranged weapon attack? If so, with full Remote Clipping you could have 35m ranged charges.

Video I made (short).. for some reason although there was a good 4 min of PVP action it just shut itself off. I guess that happens when you die?

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4eaJ1x6mAiM

I tried the full sabo... I DPS tested it vs my rs/sin/sabo build and it was like 10 dps higher but it had no utility

So I went back to my build and pvp'd and had a great time. It was like 14 RS/7 sin/0 sabo

The sabo lets me place attack points at range and blow someone up at will, sometimes ill charge them while stacking or use the teleport to target thingy. Also have stealth to hide and using that AOE snare like crazy, it is so useful. Either for stopping runners/fang carriers, peeling them off my teammates, etc...
