Default Rogue Calling is a bit.. hmm..

Rogue calling seems to be a little bit.. overly versatile?

I don't necessarily like that they have both:

    Buff/Heal Hybrid - Bard
    Sniper - Marksman/Hunter
    Melee - Bladedancer
    Stealth - Nightblade
    Tank/Spell ranged - Riftstalker

I don't mean they should be nerfed but I would like to see similar versatility given to the Mage and Warrior class in future patches/expansions.

Warrior and Mage feel a little stereotyped to tell the truth. With rogue and cleric being able to dip their toes in everything Rift has to offer I would like to see things like 'stealth' be shared around a bit.

A gun using warrior and a magic shield using mage tank would be nice as well.

    Stealth -assassin?

I think rouges loose a lot of DPS they could/should have because they have so much they can do.

    You forgot assassin and saboteur.

Nightblade has a 30 second stealth, and magic ranged skills.
Assassin is the stealthed single target burst dps class.
Saboteur would be the AoE dps class.

I may have made a few classes up.

I just think with the nature of the class system being 'respecc to any role required' that classes with the added versatility have an edge. At least superficially.

    Thumbs up Thumbs up Trion

I just don't see it as a bad thing. Roll a Rogue and Cleric and enjoy! We all have to get out of the "archetypes mindset" where this one thing is most appropriate and SHOULD always be this way in games. Versatility is not a bad thing. The first game to effectively implement and offer up healing mages, pet class warriors, and tanking rogues, gets a thumbs up from me!

The pets could be made a bit beefier for PvE though...my friend says that his warrior pet dies on almost every boss encounter because of AoE damage so DPS is hurting.

I, well honestly I have nothing to say about that it holds some truth. A class that can fill any roll would be more desirable than a class that can only do one or two rolls.
Unless DPS is a factor, then the rogue may not be the first pick.

    Mages have dps/ranged dps/buffs/heals

They can do everything except tank, but that's what the big elemental pet is for right?

A 'callings' versatility is inversely proportional to its effectiveness. You make the choice on which side of that equation you want your character to sit.
10 print "Do you want to win? Press 'Y' to continue"

20 if input = "y" then print "Woot! YOU WIN!!!"

    30 goto 10

My mage tanked an instance boss just last night. I held aggro for a good 15 seconds after the rest of the group wiped.

    Good times...good times.
