Default Rogue specs parsed - all with the same gear&buffs

So i got sick of all thos myths about certin specs (also curious if one i use is as good as i think) and i took few hours break to sit in meridian and kicks some dummy ***.

My gear is mostly T1 (very unlucky when it comes to drops) with t2 weapons. Only self buffs.

I chcecked almost every spec i found on this forum and parsed it (some trying different rotations).

Its not rocked science so all rotations are p. much close to optimal.

    Read on for more details:

    1. 46ranger/20mm http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=1M...eksoVz.x0x0V0V

    http://img200.imageshack.us/i/parse4620.jpg/

    636DPS

I chcecked few rotations and this one was way better than the others (Spliner Shot for example was making dps lower). Expect dps to fall if you can stay in your pedestal.

    2. 51ran/15nb/0sin http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0M...fuekskqz.V0xMh

This spec was highly prised so i runned few different rotations:

    a. Splinter Shot+Shadow Fire
    http://img638.imageshack.us/i/parse1.jpg/
    583 DPS

    b. Shadow Fire
    http://img269.imageshack.us/i/parse1.jpg/
    624 DPS

    c. Just instant casts
    http://img9.imageshack.us/i/parse3a.jpg/
    615 DPS

    d. Instant casts + Fiery spike
    http://img689.imageshack.us/i/parse3b.jpg/
    608 DPS

    3. 27sab/31ran/8nb http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0M...M0f0xocomz.V0h

Parser kept bugging out deleing enconter few seconds after is stoped it...
In 2 attempts DPS was 636 and 642 tho.

    4. 42nb/18sin/6ran http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=1M...Ms.0VRcx0b.V0o

    http://img585.imageshack.us/i/parsenb.jpg/
Starting with Dark Malady, constant melee dpsing throung 2 Ebon Furies till the end of the cd after last one.

    667 DPS

    5. 31ran/17sin/18bd http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=1MNMV.VMcszekck0z.0AM0x0b.VV0V0c

    http://img857.imageshack.us/i/parse2.jpg/

    684 DPS

    6.36ran/17sin/11nb http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0M...IkckVz.0VMcx0b

Spec me and my guildmate came out with at the begining of our progress throung experts. Yesterday we finished them quite easly beating DM.

    673DPS

I'll leave you with that data without pushing my conclusions.

If you have a build that you think is better that those posted here link it here and ill parse it with the same gear etc.

Thanks for doing this. If you get a chance, would you mind posting the DPS on your bow, mainhand, and offhand, as well as your AP and crit rating?

I'd like to know to what extent my lower output with similar builds is due to gear, and how much I just need to get used to the build (i.e. stop switching all the time and just learn one).

    Thanks agian.

Good info, but why didn't you test melee specs?

Why do all of your parses say Battle for Port Scion?

There seems to be a bug where the game often says you are there when you are in fact standing in the practice yard in Meridian.

I will later if somoone will link some good ones - now my team is waiting for me to run some instances.

#4 is a popular melee NB spec. It's true he didn't test any assassin or BD specs, when I have a bit I will sit through the forums and find one to post here, since he said he'd test more.

    I would suggest 31 NB / 18 BD / 17 AS as well as the 33 AS / 33 NB spec.

I'd be interested to see how 32sab/20asn/14nb stacks up for you. I can break 650 sustained over 5 minutes on the boss dummy but I think my crit/ap are a bit higher. Crappy DSL should counterbalance that though!

    Try this NB Spec.

    http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0M...oc.0VRcxof.V0o

Switch Backstab over Primal Death, and make sure you are behind the target.

Also: has anyone tested Final Blow with 3 points in Double Cross and behind the target vs Improved Blazing Strike?

    Zboq,

You ran the cookiecutter 51rng/15nb and had the best luck just running shadow fire. But in the 36ran/17sin/11nb and 31ran/17sin/18bd builds you were using splinter shot again. Was it an increase in DPS using it in these builds but not the 51/15?

This is the highest dps rogue spec i have come across. It was originally posted by a guy named "Satyrnos" and then "Yoma" modified it a little to the version i linked. It can put up about 670 dps on average and I have peaked at roughly 730 on boss fights in CC. If you test this spec out with T2+ gear you'll easily average in the 700s and may go above 800. Just make sure when you use it that:

    1) Head Shot is up every 60 seconds
    2) SoD up every 30 seconds
    3) Puncture up every 10 seconds
    4) last but not least fiery spikes up

What this spec does is maximize on the damage modifers of each soul so if done correctly you will get at least *50%+ damage bonus on all your attacks and an *80%+ damage bonus on your finishers with heat retention. My only issue about the spec is the pet and it can be a hassle in dungeon raids if your not experienced with it. If anyone is interested later i will post my stats and weapons and give some parses on the boss dummy and also bosses in T2.

P.S. Anyone who says this spec is rediculous can you have to mix ranged shots with melee shots has not tried it. The only shot i need to use that is ranged is " Head Shot". Everything else can be used in melee range.

    * The actual bonuses you receive are higher than these i just gave an estimate of the minimum.

I can appreciate your attempt to make an even comparison, however, you still have variability involved here that is skewing some results.

Lethal Poison - This 5% crit boost is essentially a buff, as it isn't available to all specs on a target dummy, however, in a raid situation all specs will gain this benefit.

Energy Talents - Again, for most specs on a dummy this is limited benefit to only Bladedancer setups, which will skew dps to favor Bladedancer combos. However, in a raid setting you will have a talent cost reduction which will pull others ahead.

Any casted rotation w/ ranger - Nearly same as above, due to limitations of energy against a target dummy, casted rotations pull ahead of instant cast rotations. However, given a raid setting the opposite is true.

So, keep this in mind when reading a lot of these DPS values and do not take them as the end-all argument settler. Make your decisions based on what type of dps you are looking to maximize, either in a raid or out of a raid, and go from that.

I have been running a MM build, so not very familiar with Ranger. Can you give me what rotation you did this build with? Also not to sound stupid, but why wouldnt you take the Raptor pet at the top of the ranger tree?

Splinter Shot was a dps loss for me in every spec i tested.

    just ran

    5. 31ran/17sin/18bd

and added Weapon Barrage to the rotation. its of the gcd and can proc serrated blades ;)
also i took the points out of trick shot and put 1 point in crippling and second one in Master Huntsman.

i only got 625 dps with:

    347 AP / 37,53% Crit / 36,0 DPS Gun
