    Default Why doesn't serrated blades work for range?

    Hey just wondering about this. Currently if you're a ranged toon with assassin there's nothing worth putting those 3 points into besides serrated blades (after the first 5 into crit and 2 into additional dmg)

    Why not let serrated blades work on ranged damage, even if limited a bit? I'm basically forced to throw away points if I want the abilities that increase my dmg after a crit, increase crit dmg etc.

    They did for a while back in beta... Apparently it ended up being too powerful (I guess stacked with Ranger bleeds?) so nerfed it for range, then took it away entirely.

    You can still get it by using the NB ranged attacks, but if you're relying entirely on those, your DPS is probably going to be nil.

    It used to work with ranged, it also used to do 300% weapon damage instead of what it does now. Basically it made rangers and marksmen way too good, but I'm not sure that it couldnt' be brought back in some capacity.

    They tried several different versions in beta, some that did less damage with ranged, but eventually they moved it to nothing for ranged because every ranged dps had to take assassin because the poisons and bleed were very helpful.

    "Your Critical Hit attacks with melee weapons cause the target to bleed for 100% of your weapon's damage over 6 seconds. Can be applied up to 3 times."

    Congratulations on reading the tooltip. The OP is asking "hey why not let it work for ranged as well since we gotta waste points in sin to progress in the tree as a ranger/marksman?"

    He wasn't asking what the tooltip does.

    why are you quoting what it does? nobody asked what it does, he asked why it doesn't affect ranged. The reason behind it.

    People just don't even read posts before replying anymore.

    Because it doesn't... they didn't type that because they felt like it, it's how it works and how it's intended to work. Sure it'd be nice to have some extra functional use out of "wasted" points into a tertiary tree but don't we all have to do this sometimes in some of our builds? Not a big deal.

    The question is "What is the rationale behind how it's intended to work?"

    It allowed ranged souls (MM/Rgr) to get too high up in the Sin tree without wasting points.
