    Default Assasin's back-stab...and now stealth.

Look, I'm an older gamer and an avid MMO player for years. I'm not whinning for the sake of whinning.

Why is what should be an Assasin's bread and butter skill so weak? I'm talking backstab.
Why now is stealth with all the skills that make stealthing supposedly better not working as advertized?

If un-seen and I get my backstab and other positional attacks off, I should be able to bring most equal level players and mobs to withing inches of their lives.

If I can't get those off I expect the fight of my life. This is how most of us see an Assasin class.

In Rift we are a joke. Its like they said, "here we'll give you all these neat Assasin skills but then give them all the effect of using rubber daggers.

I'm tired of never getting a Dev or modrator response or even ever reading them concerning this issue.
Im starting to feel like they're taking my money every month and laughing all the way to the bank...

I"m starting to believe this soul system is too much for the Rift developer's. They don't have the skills to balance this game to a fun playable level...

I went from an avid supporter and fan to a disgruntled subscriber second thinking my stay here.
Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown.

The way stealth works now is you have to be behind them if you want to get close. and backstab does slightly better damage then the starter ability which it should. I have no problem bringing mobs down. Stealth sap his buddy use expose, stun stealth ability, backstab x2 or x3 depending if i get the extra point(still only 25) the poison buff finisher (equal level mob is now at 60-50% health). Use puncture, then dirty tricks to stun backstabb x3 then do the normal damage finisher. Restealth repeat on sapped mob. If you pick up a second mob and cant handle it use the disorienting ability. Pick up blade dancer for the extra dodge, or riftstalker for the mitigation. Honestly not that hard

    *sigh*

Sin/dancer is one of the easist classes I have ever played, add in slip away and the only reason you should EVER die in PvE questing. is because you got stunlock or snared.

I know o ZERO mobs that stun lock or snare that long.

In fact bladedancer by its self (and paired with sin) is just stupid easy in PvE and you can make other rogues and warriors cry because you can basically get free attacks for almost every attack they make. 50/50 really on the strike back with the 50% dodge abality.

Its almost as good as Rever/pally at farming 2-4 mobs at once.

I can easily kill a mob as sin/dancer and walk away at 99% or 100% health, on level or lower level mobs.

Assassins big weakness is WF pvp.
We do great in both pve questing and world pvp.
In WFs we unstealth watch as a player never drops below 50% and die.
Rez and switch to Sabo, bard , ranger or Nightblade (all much stronger WF pvp specs).

I honestly was blown away by the pitiful damage we do in this game. But i've rolled with the punches and accepted my shortcomings.

I have no problems killing people in W.F PvP.
BG is tricky, but Codex and whitefall is cake.

I like to incap other stealthed rogues then /lol at them.

An "older gamer" should really know how to spell whining. And then not do it.

    At 50?

I enjoyed all WFs beside BG while leveling but the game changes at 50.
Also I'm not a L33t pvper so I have a hard time tbh.
I do know the difference between my lack of skill and a class that's weak by design.
The assassin is weak in organized, group pvp minigames where the enemy is expecting you to attack.

Sounds like Grade A Resume material to me .... put it right after "Manwich Preparation Master" or "Semi Annual Hygine Specialist" and you are a shoe-in at any local Burger King.

I quest as an assassin and don't have any difficulties at all. The damage isn't enormous but usually by the time I've stacked my bleeds the mob is dead...it just takes a few seconds for it to realize it and fall over. Backstab for PvE questing is largely useless. I rarely use Foul Play in PvE because I don't need to, and it's even more rare for me to open with Paralyzing Strike. That means I rarely have the mob's back and I still do just fine. Jagged Strike -> Puncture -> Impale is my common opener. Throw an Expose Weakness in there somewhere and I don't normally have time for another 5CP finisher before the mob is dead.

These threads claiming that assassin is bad keep coming up. I am growing tired of them. I play assassin and have had no trouble with stealth before and after patch. Stay tuned for a video showing how you are supposed to play; later this evening I will record and post a video on youtube that demonstrates how to not suck in PVE as assassin.

The solution is clear, roll a warrior or mage. Common, rogues are just cannon fodder as it is.

I have abandoned my rogue for the mage...the change is significant.

Warrior...well, high crit, high damage, survivable and next patch they get stealth and group healing.

i think we all know how to play mate

anyway, there are still some issues with melee rogues that need addressing, but the one thing i dont want to happen is to make them stupidly OP like other mmo's. i dont want to have easy kills at all, i want a fight. Getting the jump on someone should stack the odds in your favour but not so the target is almost dead. to be honest i think some of the healing abilities of other classes just need sorting out....
