    Default Bladedancer?

Question for anyone from Trion. What is the point of the Bladedancer? Mediocre damage, zero survivability. Exactly what role is the bladedancer supposed to fill? Given that this soul was completely ignored in your grand rebalancing patch I assume you are satisfied with the soul as is. (sarcasm)

This soul does not provide spike dps to allow for quick strikes, and it does not have the survivability to stand in a fight for damage over time. Currently, this is the only soul I am aware of that is not viable for either pvp or pve.

Could we at least get a statement about what you intend the bladedancer to be? It has gotten to the point where people don't even list the bladedancer when talking about the rogue class in general.

Honestly you could change the Bladedancer description to 'Like a paragon but with half the dps and a quarter of the survivability.'

Either give the bladedancer the abilities it needs to survive more than 4 seconds in combat or give it the dps to kill someone in those 4 seconds.

imo a dps soul should be able to put 51 points in their tree and 0 in all the others and still have good dps, else what is the point?

Yep I play a full bladedancer in pvp/pve, and while I do ok, its really freaking hard.

There is no burst damage, or even high sustained damage. I rotate my rhythm abilities every encounter, and still can only kill people when its 2v1 or so.

To top it off we cant "dodge" any magic attacks, and alot of physical finisher powers have "cannot be blocked or dodged" added to them, further screwing with us.

I want to play a bladedancer, but its so much work just to be semi passable.

is doing about same dps as NB, has 3 bursts..

Other option is spec for dodge/parry talents couple it with rift and assassin or even bard and you have best rogue solo spec by far which has high mobility, stealth, aoe, heals absorb and whatanot.

Maybe not best soul for pvp but thats why there is other souls for that. So famous line "learn to play" comes to my mind...

They do seem a like like a weak Paragon, certainly I'd like their damage on parry ability.

I'm using it to level atm with riftstalker heal and aoe mobs I'm unkillable (by mobs) and its a very fast levelling process.

Which is exactly what I did. I'm running with BD/Sin/RS and enjoying it. It's great for soloing PvE content while I'm waiting for guildies or friends to group up with when online. And yes, it's rough during PvP play, but I'm learning to pick my fights in supporting my tanks and protecting the healers & mages as best I can. The game is young and rough spots still need to be ironed out. I'm giving Trion the benefit of the doubt and giving them the opportunity to fix things because I believe the game has a lot to offer.

have you seriously failed to read what the soul actually does ? no survivability ? honestly they have so much utility in there it aint even funny.

no dmg ? seriously ? a bd dps spec is on par with a nb spec if you know how to spec and not go mindles 51 in it.

basically by putting 17-18 in sin and 12-15 in nightblade you are no longer a bladedancer, you can replace it with ranger or marksman and do good dps (not great), the problem with bladedancer is if you attempt to gimp yourself (ie 51points), what then is your role? there should be some incentive to putting 51 points in a tree, something you get that you cant get elsewhere (ie pyromancer and archon). right now there is no reason to put 51 points in anything with high dps, cause you lose passives from assassin or nightblade which both add to your dps by too much. only exception would be a 51pt assassin with 15 in nightblade, but they suck so not an issue.

Yeah, 32 BD/21 Sin/13 RS is my solo spec. It's great for avoiding mobs, taking on huge packs of non-elites, or blowing cooldowns to solo whatever elites I need for quests/rifts. It's even more uber because I have like 6.8k health and a decent amount of passive avoidance wearing my tanking gear :3

I love being out in the world grinding and getting jumped. I've killed so many %#@!ers in my solo "pve" role it's not even funny. Last night an Assassin jumped me at half health while I was killing a Mathosian Commander in front of Stillmore. "Oh, rly? Side Steps -> Malicious Strike -> Puncture -> BLAAAADE STOOO- err, Dancing Steel!"

Edit: Also, what Hokonoso said, that's my DPS role.

Ya blade dancers are pretty sick in pvp if done properly. Ie paired with heavy riftstalker. They seem to be everywhere all at once with all the charge/teleports. I find that if you are constantly on the move classes have a hell of a time with you. But if you stand still and attack youre toast. And you are right 51 pts in BD is sorta gimping yourself

why not ? sabs only took 27-28 points in sab spec and still are sabs becous they only use sabskills. same goes for bd.

i only take 32 points in bd 17 in nb 17 assasin. so i aint a bd anymore ? then what am i nothing ?

the thing is bd is a mix between pvp and pve spec. you don't need hit for pvp altough the survival talents are great.

yet for pve you don't need the survival tough the hit is insane good.

for pve the dancing steel is great. for pvp its not that usefull.
