Default PvP only - BRD/RS/INF - rate this build, please.

    http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=1M....VV.EIdoM0szqz

    Anyone tried something like this?

    Some explanation:
There are reports of Improved Break Free being broken and w/o it taking Quick Recovery doesn't make sense (you can break stuns with Shadow Stalk). I picked everything useful from Bard tree. Less than 34 points in Bard seems to be no good because you lose VoC. I put 22 points in RS for increased mobility and other defensive stuff.

    Some questions:
    1) Is healing in Guardian Phase viable for PvP. It certainly seems so because only Cadence will be affected and in return you get a lot of survivability.
    2) Toughened Soul vs. Unseen Fury?
    3) Rift Scavenger vs. Boosted Recovery? Rift Scavenger seems to be too situational, but maybe I'm wrong.
    4) Hasted Time vs. Improved Rift Barrier and Planar Refuge?

Why so quiet? :) Is this build so bad that there's nothing to discuss? Or does nobody know the answers? :)

What, seriously nobody uses anything like this? Then what soul do you suggest as support for bard in PvP? I understand that NB has good synergy with Cadence and DPS codas but NB is a PvE soul. :)

I've tossed around a lot of the same questions recently, so I'll chime in...

Infiltrator: you're basically giving up NB and approx 30% increase in your cadence healing for 50% reduction in damage while stunned. The other stuff is sorta fluff... AE's aren't what kills you (you're a bard, healing aoe's is what you do) and a couple CC breaks with long timers. IMO it's not worth it.. makes you a bit more stocky but your team loses a lot of your healing. Coupled with guardian phase you're talking about HALF of the cadence healing you would have with NB. You're basically a stocky little tree with legs that follows everyone around and keeps a mediocre ticking regen on them, mezzing the occasional player. Obviously guardian phase can be toggled easily enough, so it's not THAT bad.

    2) I like toughened soul. I think it does more for you in survivability than unseen fury does for cadence.

    3) Boosted recovery, no question. It's always working for you, and healing yourself is tough as a bard. Not situational and TBH, when your health is dipping that low the last thing you should be doing is leaving combo points on a player hoping your team kills him before you die.

    4) Drop your rift barrier, go rift guard and hasted time, imo. Put guard up BEFORE you need it (it lasts 30 seconds afterall).

Also, for the bard build, drop resonance and put those points in street performer. If you don't believe me, test it.. look at your stats, cast your motifs and look at the change. I was seeing like 4-7 points increase in int, dex, end, etc... totally not worth it.

Oh and get improved anthem of competence, didn't realize you don't have it... 20% in-combat runspeed. Usefulness beyond measure in PVP.

I discovered this bard/rift combo not too long ago and i will say, i couldnt be happier with it.
Pretty much all i do in pvp is laugh when people try to attack me after popping guardian mode..then shifting, using guarded steel...THEN using planar refuge. I'm nearly unkilllable unless focus fired on by 3-4 people, and all the while im buffing and healing my whole raid. I have to say that this setup is extremely satisfying for me as a rogue since im normally getting facepwned the minute i pop out of stealth.
As far as putting infiltrator in there...eh, seems like a waste of points and not entirely neccessary. Just my opinion though because im not sure yet what youd replace it with.

    TL : DR
Bard/Rift is extremely fun and brings your survivability WAY up, making warfronts at least a tiny bit enjoyable for us defiants (who constantly lose WFs for some reason..)

You'll thank me after 1 Warfront with Flashback.
We tend to meet any new situation by reorganizing, and a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while at the same time producing confusion, inefficiency, and demoralization.

    4) Hasted Time vs. Improved Rift Barrier and Planar Refuge?
    1) Yes! Guardian Phase is essential for PvP. Yes - you lose healing output, but a dead healer doesn't heal. Your survivability FAR outweighs the loss in damage/healing.
    2) I chose Toughened Soul. Your Cadence gets ~3 per tick when you increase you AP by 25.
    (See: http://forums.riftgame.com/showthrea...l=1#post823464 )
If that's worth it to you (you have a lot of AP stacked), choose Unseen Fury - I like the extra armor though.
    3) Neither, grab Ruthless Stalker. Boosted Recovery may arguably be better for you, but for your team - the extra crit chance on your Cadence/Codas/Motifs are MUCH more valuable.
    4) Improved Rift Barrier and Planar Refuge for sure. Since Cadence is a channeling spell the leaves you immobile anyway, the movement speed boost are useless unless you choose to stop healing your team and run away - which is bad in of itself... Damage mitagation talents is certainly the way to go.

This is my build - it is a Bard/Riftstalker/Nightblade
    http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0M....EIbzVos0oz.Vb

    Some other things to note:
**Freedom of Movement IS A MUST: This turns ALL your planeshifting into a Root/Stun/Snare break/resist. Get it!
**To me, getting Cadence and Coda of Restoration - while using Motifs are second priority. This is why I choose to skip Resonance.
**Nightblade will compensate for most of the damage lost using Guardian Phase.
**Anthem of Defiance > Anthem of Glory... Coupled with Guardian Phase - you're rolling with 90 Resist on ALL elements... And that's before using items.
**Power Chord, Improved Anthem of Competence, and Coda of Fury? Meh - my spec is based towards healing. I'd rather throw down another Cadence or Coda of Restoration with my Energy.
**Planeshifting is usually enough to stay alive and deal with all the CC abilities thrown at me (at 42)... If it turns out to be more of a problem down the road, I might toss out Nightblade and spec for Infilitrator. But right now, my survivability from Riftstalker is enough.

This is the build of choice for Bard PvP, especially in Black Garden. In the right hands, this spec can do some serious damage to the opposing team; that is, if you use your tools the way they're meant to be used, timing is everything. Take the 5 points out of Bardic Inspiration and put 5 points in Street Performer. Take the 2 remaining points and put them in Coda Fury and Improved Anthem of Competence.

For some reason it wouldn't let me edit my post. This is the build you should be using for Bard PvP. Bard Stalker FTW:

I'd probably respec to 35/31/0 Riftstalker/Bard/Infiltrator if survivability became a problem:
    http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0M...kko.EIbzV0szoz

This build will give me a couple more planeshifts, Break Free, and another stun - making it virtually unstunnable... But as you know, Infiltrator comes at the prices of ~24% Cadence damage. It's to stick with RS/BRD/NB unless you really need the extra survivability.

I agree with the other stuff you said, but I'm not sure about Rift Guard/Hasted Time/Improved Anthem of Competence... At least in The Codex and The Black Garden Warfront.

Rift Guard costs 40 Energy and your combo points to provide a very small increase in mitigation over Rift Barrier (~2.5%-7.5%). I'm sure it has an effect with more points into Riftstalker, but when you factor in that planeshifting abilties also breaks stun, snare, root, moves you away the attacker (or towards your ally), increases your chance to crit with your heals/attacks by 15% - all at the cost of 20 Energy and NO combo points, the benefits from Rift Guard/Improved Rift Guard are "meh" at best... It just seems planeshifting and saving your combo points from Cadence/Coda of Restoration is better.

Hasted Time/Improved Anthem of Competence - I don't see how they're that useful. In combat, you're usually channeling Cadence to generate combo points and heal your raid. You're not moving - and if you need to, you already have 3 (4 if you go 32 Riftstalker) abilities that can warp you around instantly... Anthem of Competence is useful, especially for flag running, don't get me wrong, but again, in combat I'm never really moving, and if I do I'm doing so via Plane Shifting to keep my Rift Barrier/Freedom of Movement/Ruthless Stalker buffs.

Rift Guard and Rift Barrier don't stack - so it's better to choose one or the other. That way you can spend points elsewhere.

Apologies, added wrong build. Posting in between Warfronts. A Bards job is to survive, while CCing and AoE healing in PvP. Once you learn that your team will love you.
