Thumbs up PVE Leveling build past lvl 30

Hello there, I don't really wanna get mixed in with this whole nerf the Sabo conversation I merely want to ask about my build.

I am currently leveling as a sabo/ranger. I have reached lvl 30 and realise my pet is about to be come more than useless. And now the fun starts, do I completely respec? or is there no real viable leveling spec for sabo without a pet in pve.

Thanks for any time you put into replying

If you invest fully in silent setup, you can blow things up before they get to you as saboteur. If anything jumps you, though, you'll go down fast.

Don't forget about your traps. If put a little bit of thought into your pull, you can ensure that the mob you are exploding never makes it to you. With talents you can get rid of the trap cooldown altogether.

    Illustrated (poorly)

Step 1 - Trap, then pull

    mob .................. trap 1 .... you

Step 2 - Do NOT detonate until you have set your second trap

    ........................ mob ................... trap 2 .... you

Step 3 - By the time the mob is in your second trap you should have all of your charges applied, you can repeat step 2 if you need to do more damage.

    ............................................... dead mob .... you

I appreciate the replies, thank you for taking some time to do that.

Now I'm not a lazy player i like to get involved. But all that to kill one mob when normally your easily dealing with 2-3 at one time. This doesn't sound like a very efficient way to lvl tbh.

I am looking for a build that allows me to continue playing Sab but doesn't disable me being able to deal with extra mobs on the fly. Right now without the pet I go down very fast if more than 1-2 mobs are on the scene.

I leveled to 42 in alpha and 39 in beta, trying all different soul combos for pve, BUT always with sabo as main, as it's the class I really enjoy. Once I hit about 32 and my ranger pet died ALL the time, I swapped for a sab/bard/NB build. This is what I had at 33

You prep by dropping Land Mines, which is mines in a diamond pattern on the ground, load up the target mob with blast charge, use an annihilation bomb to use the charges up and affect 2 mobs around it because of the Demolition Specialist talent. That starts the mobs running to you. Load up lead mob with shrapnel charges, detonate, then kite them over the land mines, which knocks back the mobs while doing the damage. You should be able to handle 3 or 4 mobs and not really get touched. One more point gets you the booby trap, which you can drop first, then put land mines around that for even more damage, use your adhesive bomb to slow the mobs around the mines.

With the 8 points in bard, you can cadence your little heart out if the mobs have 10% left of HP to heal up any damage you took. Plus you get the 2 motifs for AP and Crit and you get the fanfare for Endurance.

I found this to be very effective leveling, allowing me to solo almost anything. You can even kite elites just by using land mines, booby trap and using the caltrop charges. It's amazing how so many mobs are affected by it. Slows the mob for 50%, kite over land mine, knock them back, load up caltrop again, drop adhesive, run down the road and blow them up.

It's really a shame that the sab has gotten such a bad rap in the game due to low level pvp. It really is a fun class to play using all the abilities. BUT, once you hit higher levels, the overall dps does seem to diminish, as some of the alpha guilds weren't even taking a saboteur on the 20 man raids since they couldn't parse enough damage. AOE, yes they did failry well, but so few of the encounters are without aoe and are just single target, well, we just don't dish it out the way it's needed. And since so many classes have overlapping debuffs, it just wasn't worth the space for sub par dps. Again, this is front line guilds that were testing raids so things may have changed. I know I really enjoy the class, and even with the negative comments I receive while playing in live, I'll stick with my mad bomber.
