    Default Support/Dps mage

    Newbie here

What build do you guys recommend for a support mage with a good amount of Dps?
I want to be good in groups. I was thinking storm/elem/lock.

13 points into Chloromancer is probably good for some support with Radiant Spores and Lifegiving Veil. Aside from that, you can pretty much focus on having a DPS soul.
It will always baffle me that people would object to quality of life improvements and just blame it on being lazy.

So Chloromancer for some support and something like elemental and stomrcaller for my dps?
How is it for Solo play?

If you want to play solo, I probably wouldn't spend much, if any, points into Chloromancer as the healing generally isn't necessary. If you want to play an elementalist, your pet should be able to tank for you just fine without much help. I recommend having 0 points into Elementalist to start anyway since it gets you the pet to tank and then you can focus on Stormcaller/Warlock/Pyromancer (up to you).

Well if he's wanting to play a Support role, it's unlikely he's focussing on solo with that role.

Mage Souls focussed on support with middling DPS:
    Chloro: full on healing role

Archon: Debuffs / Buffs role. Works by debuffing mob to buff himself - while debuffing himself to buff the group.

Dom: Mez/Stun/Snare/Root/Silence + sundry debuffs... beyond the first few points in this tree, it tends to be most useful in PvP

Mage souls focussed on DPS with added Support (often coming a little later in the tree):
Stormcaller: Excellent DPS (especially AoE) and Stuns/Snares - which tend to be more useful in PvP than in PvE groups. (+ Grp/Raid Mana/Power/Energy regen which is likely being removed next beta)

Necro: Pet focussed with overall strong DPS and added spot heal/HoT and a couple of nice debuffs.

Warlock: DoTs with strong DPS and added buffs/fear/silence/snare

What build to go for depends a bit on how heavy you want to be on DPS and how heavy on support. It also depends a bit on whether you're planning this role for early levels - or whether you're going to be using it from 20+

For support you want either Archon/Pyro or Domi + either SC or Ele or both.
