    Question Double Tap Archmage question.

    Does http://rift.zam.com/en/ability/5000000642/Double-Tap affect channeled spells?

Since most channels are on CD's, it doesn't matter too much, but there are some exceptions. (http://rift.zam.com/en/ability/400474527/Mana-Wrench for example)

I'm not sure on the answer as obviously no-one has been able to test it yet (cant advance in the PvP tree in beta so far) but I would take a guess that it does not affect channeled spells.

Double Tap: make the next cast of the interrupted spell instant.
Presence of Mind (from WoW): When activated, your next Mage spell with a casting time less than 10 sec becomes an instant cast spell.

Presence of mind did not make evocation, arcane missiles or any other channeled move instant. So i'm guessing that it will be similar for Rift. But here's hopeing it DOES make channeled spells instant casts, that would be great :P

My theory behind why channeled spells are not effected is because you have already 'started casting them', with a normal spell it gets interrupted and no damage gets out. With a channel the damage has already started to get out, and being able to re-cast it for its full damage would be like cheating the system, and doing extra damage from an interrupt. IMO when a channel is 'interrupted' it merely makes it finish casting, similar to suffering large push back. Whereas when a casted spell is interrupted, it is completely canceled (not like pushback)

    Just my two cents
