    Default The "must have" abilities?

Was wondering what people think are the essential skills to have per class?

Like for Warlock is it essential to have Magical Affinity, Opportunity etc.

Necromancer perhaps Symbiote , Deadly Plague

And so on and so forth.

15 points in ele for 5% crit and 50% more dmg on crits, either than that... whatever.

ARE their essential skills? I think it depends on your play style, what your main soul is etc. If it is your main soul then.. most skills are essential?

Would have to agree. Thinking it'ts probably a good idea to place those points in ele then the rest in pyro. My liking.

The main one for me is at least one mid-combat mana recovery ability.

I will be playing Pyromancer/Elemental or Stormcaller/Elemental depending on which suits me at the time. I have yet to experiment enough to tell which one I prefer. Probably favor pyro. I may also level as necromancer just because having a pet always seems to make things easier.

It really depends on your playstyle and soul combination's. Rift is intended to have no 'generic must have in order to raid' builds but as we all know this will end up happening sooner or later. But for now I feel that investing into the 50% increased critical damage from elementalist is going to have to be done if your in ele. And if you have dominator for PvP you will generally be specced into controlled opportunity and swift control combined with your hardest move for some intense burst damage.

IMO it will only be a matter of time before the 'must have' raiding builds will emerge

Actually, I think a "Top 3" list for each soul would be interesting. Say you limit it to 20 point skills and lower. For Chloro, I would say:

    1. Synthesis
    2. Phytogenesis (AoE spores)
    3. Enhanced veil

I can't see spending 20 points in Chloro and not getting these 3.

Warlock is tougher, it really depends on whether it's primary or secondary, and if you're making an AoE build. Either way, Opportunity is a must-have. And Magical Affinity is essential to any 20 point Lock build just to fuel Mortality.

Good idea. So what about the first 20 points in Pyro? I was thinking something like (not in a ranked order):

    1. Ignition (For reduced cast time)
    2. Combust (Have a chance to do extra damage)
    3. Fire Storm (For the big DOT)

Is there anything that you would swap out instead? Was toying with having Burning Bonds and Improved Burning Bonds in it for the root.

    Default Necro

Definatly Soul Purge, don't care if it's in 20 points or not... it's by far the best necro ability.
