    I've been playing pyro for years now, through the ups and downs of opinions, and have tweaked it 'til it's perfect for me. It's not perfect for you, just for me. I converted things to macros, and set up all these sweet kalerts for everything down to whether I was missing wearing spongy insoles. Put a couple of gadgets in to tell me about charge and when IC was ready --- it's an artform. In most open world encounters, I'm off the DPS charts, and even in raids I'm first or second in most encounters. Then this young kid comes along with 200 points less hit than I have and wearing blues and T1s, and he's getting within 10KDPS of me. I don't like that! Turns out he's using the one-button elementalist build. He can't even tell me what his rotation is or what spells he's using ... all he knows is 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1.
    Well, I got to see for myself ... so, I found the build and the macros ... and yes, my DPS went up about 7-10KDPS without even trying. I'm extracting some spells to give me better control and doing some kalert work so it doesn't seem mindless ... but it's really hard to resist that 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1 rotation --- lol.
    Call me crazy, but I don't like that all I had done as a pyro, as the dwarves would say, was for naught.

    Agreed. For me there's nothing more fun than to learn the secrets of a spec, go through guides, practice on dummies, min - max builds, make kalerts etc etc.

    I like it as well to parse with friends on a dummy or compare my own results to similarly geared players during a raid. When doing that little more dps because of all your hard work feels satisfying, instead of pressing 1 macro and hoping for some good crit rng to out dps another person.

    Ele is a nice spec, it pulls high numbers and not having to worry about a complex rotation could be a nice breather every now and then. Though, it doesn't feel very rewarding and when a less geared elementalist does kinda same dps as your maxxed out Pyro spec for example then yeah it feels a bit meehh

    Totally disagreeing.

    If you're beating your pyro with an elem, then your pyro skills are really awful.


    You can't just admit you're playing a self made pyro build with probably questionable macros and then criticize another spec while you're clearly not using it properly.


    I find elem maybe a bit overpowered, but at least it allows me to distinguish bad and good mages, as the latter ones don't play it competitively in raid.

    I would be please to check a parse from both your elem and your pyro, i'm sure you have lots of things to improve.

    Default pyro is pretty close to ele but its definitely better since you have more control

    In general harb>pyro>=ele for pure st. Ele is definitely much better if u need good ranged st +some cleave. However for the most part pyro is better simply because u can control ur burst with raid cds which makes it better in most fights for pure st.

    1 button is just the lazy spec that does decent dmg but isnt really worth using competitively most of the time.

    fights like lady justice are probably the only situations where u would want to use ele over pyro simply because good st with ranged st, and very good mobility if u keep track of volcanic eruption/elemental burst.

    The thing is you usually have a few dps in your raid that are totally devoted to the aoe burst (storms for the most part). This means aside leeching some useless spread dps, you won't be that much of a help on the adds, plus you will be lower than a pyro in terms of ST dps on justice, which is supposed to be your job.

    So even on this kind of boss i don't understand the potential usefullness of the elem spec. However it's true this can help if your aoe dps have some troubles playing stormbringer/cabalist, which would be a bit awful.

    I like being able to do lazy things sometimes. I don't have the time or energy to learn all the specs for all the things. I'm barely able to keep up with just my eight warrior "real" specs. I don't have the time in my life to additionally learn mage and cleric and whatever else. All these easy one-button specs allows me to do some basic level grinding without making me want to cry salty tears.

    A pyro lover and specialist opinion that do not like other mage soul that outdps his precious pyro and blame it for 1 button lazy spamming. If you so like the complex play style, do you ever play and like warlock when warlock been top mage dps? We know warlock have more complex play style than pyro, Or do you ever play and like Harb that outdps pyro for a long long time? I bet you not like them all, cause you are a pyro lover.

    I break it into 3.

    Buffs on one.

    Channel and caster times on one.

    Then a spam one.

    You can get a double push losing things with 1 button.

    I like to control things.

    58 Ele's actually based around double pushing through Volcanic Eruption as it's a DPS gain to do so.

    Even 3 buttons are not enough to play an elementalist well.
    For the best results you have nearly no real spam macro.
    I need for the 61 elementalist at least 11 buttons....
    I don't know, how so many mages are so lazy^^
