Whats the quick and dirty on how to spec and play a chlromancer for dungeon/raid healing?

The more detail actually the better haha. Im very new to rifts and never healed in an mmo before.

like for example about gear and stat priority.

Your focus will go up as you get gear in the 50 dungeons, or buy gear when you hit 50. Before 50 its not really an issue, but also keep in mind the expansion comes out in just over a month and so the playstyle and stats you may want could change.

so what would a chloramancer who wants to heal want for now.

And i should probably get a dps set also, so what should i be looking for there?

Stat weights for chloros are roughly the same as DPS, with a slight priority on higher intelligence items. SP is always first, but int still matters (mostly for Natural Awareness).

so i wont need to farm a second 'heal' set like i would in Wow.

The primary gear i get from the raid will function adeqeuately in either capacity?

Yes. Stack as much spellpower as you can.

In Storm Legion stat priority might change however.

Regardless of stat weight changes, I don't foresee any NEED to farm different gear for DPS vs. healing (both now and in SL). It may be helpful to farm a shielding set, but it's hardly necessary.

spellpower being relevant to both healing numbers and dps numberS?
Also im being told i shoudl try to get my focus up, which plays a function similar to Hit in wow.

you want to get your focus up to the cap of the level of content you are playing, otherwise you have a chance to miss on your attacks. This also serves as a decent guide to let you know that you are appropriately geared in terms of other raw stats to be able to contribute properly.

    Expert Dungeons - 90
    T1 Raids (DH,GP,GSB,ROS) - 220
    T2 Raids (ROTP,HK) - 320
    T3 Raids (ID,PF) - 420

    Zykelot Cleric - 8/8 ID, 4/4 PF

But focus isn't relevant for healing?

yes its required because you need to hit a target to heal. If you don't have enough focus then you restrict yourself to only being able to reliably heal via your direct heals such as bloom/flourish/natural healing.

Most of the time you will be healing with void life / vile spores / nature's touch

As of right now focus does matter for chloromancer healing but come storm legion all will be converted to an amount of healing based off of the cast time instead of the amount of dmg.

Focus would still matter because while healing would be based off cast time, your attack still needs to hit before that healing can be done.
If the target is immune, no healing is done because no damage is done.

1.11 is going to be on PTS soon anyway.

If anything focus is most important for healers because who wants a heal to miss?
