Default Does illuminate always do more than coda of jeopardy?

I have a bard and an archon, both are level 25. Illuminate seems to always be ahead of the damage of jeopardy by about 1 rank. For example, illumate does 198 dmg and jeopardy does 128. At level 26 illuminate will do 298 and jeopardy will do 198. Does jeopardy ever do the same? I ask because I'm deciding on which class to take to 50 and I like both classes. However I want the one that will contribute more damage later on for the other group members.

Fully trained, Illuminate and Coda of Jeopardy does the same damage. But Jeopardy lasts 60 seconds (trained). Illuminate lasts 30 seconds. But Illuminate will overwrite Jeopardy and prevent it from casting if both are used in a raid. Both do the same amount of damage as a 3-point Spotter's Orders, which lasts 20 seconds.

Illuminate can be cast every CD on a different target, while CoD requires 5 combo points to do full damage over the full 60 seconds.

Keep in mind that both of these are "support" spells. You cast the spell, everybody who hits gets the increased damage. The damage is credited to them, not you. If you're closing a rift with members of the opposite faction, you've given +damage to that faction. If you're in a raid group, you'll be increasing everybody else's DPS rather than your own (I've had people complain that I'm not contributing when 15% of their damage is from my Illuminate, not to mention my other +stat spells increasing their DPS).

They are worth-while to me, just making sure you understand.

Just keep in mind that a single player can only benefit from one illuminate/coda/spotter's proc every 3s, even if its applied to multiple mobs and the player is AOEing all of them. The internal cooldown for the ability will only trigger once per player per 3s time period.

    Cheers!

    Krainor,

Aside from the same damage that they deal out, I personally find both specs to be fairly boring when played ad nauseum at lv50 in a raid environment. As a long-time mage player I love the play style of the mage, and would highly recommend it to anyone with an afinity for ranged mayhem making.

If you're looking to maybe do a little more melee at later levels, then rogue might be the spec of choice for you.

    Hope this helps.

Illuminate scales with flat damage increases (Bubble on Sicaron, Ant corpses on Grungronim, etc.) Coda of Jeopardy and Spotters Order do not. This is a bug, that was supposedly fixed, but is still present. Also, I typically run Illuminate to allow the bard to focus on healing coda's but that's just me.
