    Trion,

    After a week or so of testing every combination of souls I can think of, I have come to the conclusion that 1.7 was ****ty for mages. The sad fact is that Rift has moved closer to that idiotic TOR pvp.

    Please put PvP back the way it was.

    Otherwise, thanks and gl in the future.

    It's true, Chloro/lock and Chloro/dom are both ridiculous agains any geared melee atm, only pyro/dom is ok, but without heals u will be farmed.
    I'm hitting very weak using any chloro spec and this situation gives me low heals too. So weak dps + weak heals = flavor of the day = abandon RIFT.
    I'll not pay to be bored all time. I have better things to do in my life.
    If they want to reduce the chloromancer dps they need to increase the percentage of healing received to be fair with us,

    Unfortunately, I agree, 1.7 has been largely dismal for mages, aside from 1 or 2 specs that remained relatively the same keeping the top end viability stable (and which I don't enjoy). Mage diversity has dropped off significantly, despite pts feedback on how the loss of archmage soul would effect these specs, but also because valor was increased putting more emphasis on defensive specs and less on burst dmg, as well as adding in a 10% aoe dmg taking increase, putting more defensive pressure on specs like sc (which has little). Rogues have remained a hard counter to most mage specs, and there is very little burst to take down specs like clerics on an equal skill level which emphasize mana drains, vks too are extremely hard to do anything to, and in objective based fights like the codex points, essentially means they can effectively grief capture points. CC has also become less reliable and for many mage specs it is one of their few defensive talents, the issue is that too many mage souls have little defense and only mediocre outputs now if allowed to cast. Overall, a few specs like pyrodom have remained relatively stable over this patch (and are still good), and good players can still do decent in even weaker specs in the avg warfront atm, but I would say 1.7 has been a lot less fun pvp wise for me.... been trying to pull 51 necro and high sc some, but the change in outputs has been noticeably worse this patch.
