Default With PvP Chloro waiting fix, what to do at R20?

From what I can tell from a post, Chloro is dead in 1.7 for now. I wasn't wanting to move away from PvP support and start doing damage until geared enough somewhere around R25 to R31 (R6 in 1.6). But it looks like only Clerics can be healers for the time being, so what should we be doing (in particular, me at R20)? Pyro/Dom with a touch of Chloro for self heals?

Got any suggestions for builds (preferably with links to them) for the interim? I'll go back to AoE healing after they fix the unintended nerfs to Chloro, but I need a 1.7 viable PvP build meanwhile. Thanks for any suggestions, I don't want to shelve my mage and go back to my R38 Rogue while I wait for the Chloro fix.

Chloro is not entirely dead. Flourish and Bloom works just fine so I would suggest a 18Chloro (to get the endurance buff and Flourish) with deep Dominator. Something like 18Chloro/38Domi/10Elementalist for crit + 10% damage reduction

    51 Dom as always
10 in Ele for damage redux
5 in Archon for selfbuffs, PS spam and a juicy aura for your team
(11 Pyro if you really like to, but IMO it's for once not your best bet.)

    I'd recommend a Lock/Dom/Archon build.

44/22/0, 44/16/6, 38/22/6 or some variant. It has a lot of survivability and all the tools to kill clerics.

Hey, thanks for the ideas! Think I'll buy another role and see how they go. While waiting for replies I went off the deep end and spec'd for 51Pyro/7Dom/8Chloro. I love the burst of Pyro even though I haven't played it since pre-50 because it's so squishy, but I think with Bloom+Radiant+Withering I might have a chance with "in my face" types, and in Dom I went for the longer cc + debuff. Just looked interesting. I swear they buffed Bloom! tt in tree says up to 863 health but tt on the action bar icon says up to 1635. I hope it's 1635, lol, someone going for a pyro is going to get a surprise with that Bloom cd of 10s. Wonder which tooltip is wrong, still setting up and haven't smacked a dummy with it yet.

If you want chloro/dom with insane hp, try 18 chloro 33 dom 15 warlock. Make sure to get improved mana wrench alone with reflective and arresting presence, and you will be pretty useful.

    Something like http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0z...cVuVkRMfk.xx0V

*Note* I decided I personally would rather have the improved presence then the faster cast times, especially with how little your vile spores will heal for, and it is already pretty easy to get off storm shackles with quick thinking. Should be able a second total cast time on your ss.

Cheers to someone actually understanding Chloro/Dom !
As you'll usually shackel right after squirrel, it's 1.5s anyway.

PS: 18 Chloro / 38 Dom / 10 Ele is most certainly better in 1.7.

Well I am a ***** for opp procs and 10600 hp is pretty sexy. Could probably break 11k if you are endurance focused rather than valor focused.

As another side variant / piece of the discussion...

Durable control is probably more valuable now than it has been previously, at least in small scale combat.

Doms having degen full time and mana wrench give you two viable options to screw with squirreled people that deal damage but won't break squirrel with durable. Depends on what your goal is, but, could be worth dropping the extra hp and the snare break from chloro or two of the other spent points in Dom to get that channel off at the front end of an engage.

You probably won't break 11k hp without archon and SV I don't think. Pretty sure that's what put me over 11k in my P8 gear.

If you want points from dmg and heal out of PVP...roll a Warrior, Rogue or Cleric. Chloro will not get you there.

Don't think its good to get 10 ele

According to patch notes there is diminishing return for talents that reduce dmg taken + valor

When I had 10 ele on my pvp spec on the valor tooltip I had 50% dmg reduction

Removing 10 ele it went up to 54%

You can get better talents in chloro tree then 6% less dmg ;)

at least I think so, stronger bloom / flourish + essence surge + wild growth and fast cast natury fury is quite nice

    Default 51-Pyromancer 7-Dominator 8-Chloromancer

Now that I've had a chance to play this damage build that I came up with (am I the first?) I find it works very well, both in Ember Isle and in warfronts.

You get a knockback from Thunder Blast, and another one from using the frontal fan AoE Flame Jet (yes, for me regardless of tooltip it does knock them back). Those along with Flicker are just great for kiting. Both Flicker and the now built in Break Free give you two ways to, well, break free.

Then you get some minor heals from Radiant Spores and Bloom, and Withering Vine if you work it into the rotation. You also get the damage boost from Entropic Veil. All that, plus what you can get from Attunement of War plus 51 Pyro, makes for a kiting menace with some survivability other builds don't have.

Best is the visual effect of having flaming hands, and flames spreading off the back of your mount when moving (nice effect!) I just drag out my Hellhound Pup and melt face, lol. At R21 (full equipped old R5 with PvP crystal) this build just amazes me, and it darn sure seems to get me marked (which just strokes my epeen to the danger point since it's not flagged as a healer).

Throw on Planar Protection, Thick Armor Plating, use Drake Filet and maybe Mighty Intelligence Serum, and use Holy Champion when necessary, and you're set to burn right through the mobs and invasions in Ember Isle - fast. I think this is a nice build now possible only since 1.7 moved the PvP soul to PA.
