Default What professions do most mages take?

Just hit level 35 and questioning whether i should have gone apothecary.
    Right now, I took:

    foraging/mining/artificer.

now I am wondering if I should have gone apothecary, for some of the really good potions/tonics at higher levels.

What do you take as your professions?

I guess I could take apothecary and butchering. I have a TON of stuff I have foraged still, just sitting in my bank.

    Cheers,

    TCG

Crafting skills don't matter at all based on calling unless you plan on making your own gear. Artificer and outfitter would be your gear making professions. Butchering would help with most mats.

i went apothecary to make my own pots. i'd recommend skipping a crafting prof. your guildies will have everything you need.

make money, go 2 gathering profs. forging for apothecary and mining or butchering.

Start off with all 3 gathering professions. Sell mats or hoard them for later on. Once your 50, have lvl50 mount then swap out gathering professions for crafting professions. This is what I did along with leveling a rogue(stealth ftw) alt with all gathering professions to harvest mats for main. Between both toons starting off as gathers I had almost all the mats I needed to level crafting professions on main. Now I have apothecary, artificer, and runecraftering on main so I can make all my consumables.(pots, powerstones, runes, etc...)

    butchering/outfitter/rune crafter

All these 3 synergize very good.

Skins -> cloth/leather armor -> rune craft components

Artificier ? I once thought of getting it but then I remembered the amounts of silver, gold etc ores I found were ludicrously low, way too few to support a proffesion.
