38/28 Necrodom too. Good on plenty of bosses and shuts down almost all the HK trash pulls, if you hadn't figured that out already.

Mages are nowhere near where they should be. Pigeon-holed into pet classes, overly complicated rotations, and barely scratching the heels of rogues and warriors, who out-perform mages with 2 button combos. It's been this way for a while and Trion has done NOTHING to address it.

They give mages a 44 point SC talent that looks neat on paper, but loses it's attractiveness when you realize all you give up from other souls to get that talent.

Pyros are handicapped with Ground of Power, the only ability IN THE GAME that requires the character to remain in one spot for it to be effective AND on top of that reduces the mage's overall resiliency. This might make some sense if Pyros were far and away the top dps, but they are far from it. It's almost like a bad joke.

My guild is down to ONE active mage. Get with it Trion!

    /end rant

Well I dunno about anybody else, but I am consistently parsing up with the rogues and warriors in my guild. On our sicaron kill as Sc/Ele I pulled 2nd dps with 2320 and top dps was a rogue doing 2400.

You can substitute pyro/ele for lichform builds in static single target fights and do about the same. Which one you choose is largely a matter of taste.

Otherwise I agree with the suggestions made here. Just don't overlook pyro/ele, it's quite competitive now and even does solid aoe damage.

I second Pyro/Ele. It's good for single target and AOE on fights that don't require much movement. For some fights that require infrequent, but quick, movements it can actually be really nice since it has Flicker. I especially like it on Thalgur in GP. Its also great for fights with burn phases since Intensify Elements stacked with Heat Wave and Internalize Charge is crazy crazy DPS. I also like the big numbers I see on my screen.

Uhh, actually the last patch put us right up there I think... sure, there is a larger gap between good mages and bad ones then other classes, and thats the issue with their two button rotations, but i'm not complaining anymore, we seem to be in a good place.

As for pidgeon holed into pet classes... we have more viable dps builds then any other class atm.

    Pyro/Ele
    31/35 Necro/Lock
    28/38 Necro/Lock
    SC/Ele

All viable and actually the best build depends highly on the situation, which is why I carry around 3 of those. The best part is, there are actually some builds out there that really aren't too far behind, you could try 51 lock if you HATE pets that much, but pyro/ele's pet is really low maintenance.

this is a list of all specs i use for raiding at this point. i've only seen all previous content, and 3 bosses in HK so far, so take that into account please. i'm sure when i get some more progression in HK i'll be making changes. also note that i really only dps in a raid setting. i never chloro, and very rarely archon.

for dps i use all of these depending on what raid boss we're goin up against.
    38sc/28dom/0archon
    34sc/32ele/0archon (BS/AB)
    31necro/35lock/0archon
    38lock/28necro/0archon
    38necro/28dom/0archon
    34pyro/32ele/0archon
    35pyro/31ele/0archon

51chloro/15lock/0archon (or AM depending on encounter for break free)

51archon/9dom/6pyro (for fights where i don't need to worry about movement or taking severe damage)
    51archon/11ele/4pyro (for survivability fights)

They should. That skill is too good to be a zero pointer.

Shrug. If they nerf zero archon, everybody will just take zero in dom.

Not a single parse so far, just people listing specs heh.

    http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t.../Plutparse.png

Was learning the stock standard 35/31 necro tonight.

    SP: 1277
    SC: 779
    Focus: 318

I feel like this is a bit short of where I should be at...
