intelligence gives you crit and spell power. Wisdom gives you mana, mana regen (I think) and spell power (to a lesser degree)...

Locks don't need mana nor mana regen...

    For Mages:

    1 Int = .5 Sp, 1 Crit, and mana
1 Wis = .5 SP, and mana regen

    Intellect:
    - 75% converts to spell power
    - increases your mana pool
    - increases your crit

    Wisdom:
    - 25% converts to spell power
    - increases your mana regen

Generally speaking, mages go for int gear and steer clear of wis gear.

Don't go for wisdom specifically, but don't pass up on a good upgrade just because it has wisdom on it. Spellpower overall is going to contribute more than crit rating so when choosing between peices of gear you generally want to go with whatever is netting you more spellpower.

There are of course exceptions to this, like Archon benefits from just stacking pure intelligence.

Wisdom will not hurt you in a necro dps spec as wisdom is converted to dexterity for your rogue pet but should still not be favored over int or sp power

No it's 50% for both Int and Wis. Clerics go 75% for Wis and 25% Int. Just look at the tool tips and do the math if you don't believe me.

So we really have a choice to go a mad regen build if we found the right gear?

    Nope.

    1 Spell Power = 1.00
    1 Intelligence = 0.71
    1 Wisdom = 0.50
    2 Spell Crit = 0.41

If you want to, I suppose. But it's a bit unnecessary, since most mage souls have some innate mana regen built into them already.

    Warlock - Sacrifice Life: Mana
    Necromancer - Reclaim Power/Consumption
    Archon - Exhilaration/Leeching Flames/Mental Flare
    Chloromancer - Living Shell/Empathic Bond
    Dominator - Mana Wrench
    Elementalist - Channel Elements
Pyromancer - Smoldering Power/Improved Grounding (Ground of Power)

Many souls also have a form of reducing mana you use, and that isn't even including adding mana potions to the equation, and the 100+ wis you get from raid buffs alone which assists in the regeneration. Better to stack int over wis solely for the fact that it also gives crit.

Holy **** there's a lot of misinformation in this thread. In an attempt to shout down the several people who have posted blatantly wrong information:

1 int = 0.5 spell power and 1 spell crit
    1 wis = 0.5 spell power

Those stats also add less important things like mana regen and mana, but most people only care about sp+sc.

As he said, that's the mage benefits. Cleric is 75/25

All of our mana regen abilities except for Empathic Bond return a percentage of our total mana. This means a large mana pool is better than a high passive regen.
