oh you mean the spec that comes behind sc/ele?

if you "must" dps as a mage then do so as sc/ele but right now our dps is gimped severely

around 5-10% differences between each rank ( at least that's how i parse)

    1) Zoomancer <- pet bugs out regularly and extremely reliant on CDs

    2) SC/ELE with BS/AB rotation <- very complicated and very tiring to keep up at it for long periods

    3) pyro/ele <- much simpler rotations compared to either 1 or 3

    4) SC/Ele with the simplified rotation + flux toggles

Necro/lock is supposedly top dps according to some forum posts but my dummy parses for it doesnt look too good.

    edit*

Zoomancer is a good 10-15% more than the BS/AB SC/Ele
but if you screw up the CDs ie: boss mechanics don't allow DPS during the time you blow your CDs
Or.. your pets manages to bug out *crypt & necro pet does it from time to time

then your DPS takes a pretty big hit

imo it does better on dummies than on bosses

There is none. We have a variety of choices ranging from horrible to lackluster.

Well put, I agree. There's always 'that guy' who will insists otherwise but it requires supreme raid gear and a perfect rotation. The fact is the average player, even a slightly above average player with good gear, would have a hard time competing single target with any other class.

I go sc/ele for petty much all PVE DPS. It' not great, but it's not terrible.

Our spec of choice is very fight dependent.

Lord Greenscale: SC/ele is needed for AEing adds / polen.
all of GP: Lock-necro, mobile and able to swap target without much loss.
    Plutonus: zoomancer fortehwinz.

Warrs and Rogues can stay the same spec for all these fights. That's not to say there is anything wrong with it.

35/31 Necrolock is the best, most dependable spec we have at the moment.
It's a pain to learn, ir's harder to master than the BS/AB rotations simply because it isn't set in stone and it's a priority list that you must maintain.
However I can say that when I started dummy parsing with it last week I was barely getting 1k, now I'm usually around 1.2. Other than Zoomancer it's the only spec I can get over 1.5k on Pluto with.
SC/Ele is great for aoe centric fights, but it's still behind necrolock for the time being.
If we're looking at dummy parsing, the necro/dom specs will out do most specs, but for most fights I find 35/31 lock/necro to be the best right now.

No. I'd only drop Sc/Ele if you aren't regularly attempting/killing Greenscale,Herald and Alsbeth, as Sc/Ele is hands down the most useful spec on those encounters.
I run with chloro spec,necrolock,zoomancer,sc/ele and my 5th role changes between archon and a pvp spec, we usually have other people playing archon so I almost never use it, and when I know it will be needed I respec before the raid. if I were to drop one of these it would definitely be the zoomancer, which while has it's uses, now that I'm reaching similar dps with necrolock I'd rather keep that since it's much more stable, at least from my experience.
