    Default 1.3 Pyro/Ele DPS Spec w/Macro

Messing around this weekend on my Mage, I found that I could get superior single target dps with this spec to my SC/Ele or Necro/Lock specs.

A couple of answers to potential questions:
-I have 3 points in wildfire to give me more instant casts if I have to move, I have found the dps loss to be minimal even when standing still.
-I have Lightning strike in the macro because it's a relatively good long cast/high damage spell. With the points in charged, it is worth casting.

    Spec

    Macro

The beauty of this spec is that 90% of the time you're going to be spamming one button, which is this macro:

    #show Fireball
    suppressmacrofailures
    cast Inferno
    cast Flame bolt
    cast Countdown
    cast lightning strike
    cast Fireball

    Buffs

    Flaring Intellect
    Pyromancer's Armor
    Synergize
    Greater Air Elemental

    Single Target Rotation

As I said above, most of the time you're going to be spamming the macro. However, there is some trickiness to it when you add in the cooldowns.

When BOTH Intensify Elements and Heatwave are up, ALWAYS use Intensify Elements first, THEN Heatwave. Heatwave will the reset IE and you can use it again when it drops.

This isn't so much a rotation as a priority rule-set:

-Whenever Cinder Burst procs, use it
-When you don't have Exposure on your target, use it
-Always be standing on your Ground of Power, if you have to move, use burning shield as you run and your next GoP will be instant
-Use Internalize Charge when you have 100% charge
-Use Intensify Elements and Heatwave when off cooldown, see above
    -Otherwise, spam your macro

    AoE Rotation

    AoE Rotation is even simpler:

-Always be standing on your Ground of Power, if you have to move, use burning shield as you run and your next GoP will be instant
-Use Internalize Charge when you have 100% charge (you can also use charge on Fiery Assault, if you so choose and you're close enough)
-Use Intensify Elements and Heatwave when off cooldown, see above
    -Cast Burning Ground
    -Cast Fire Storm

Eclairi - High Elf Mage - Shadefallen

    Default BlueDot Pyro/Ele build compares?

How does this perform to the other pyro/ele build?

Eh, I tend to not use Flame Bolt except to either refresh the buff, or when moving. Fireball crits hit significantly harder, and adding in the DoT effect there's no reason to prioritize flame bolt over fireball.

I run 3/3 ashen armor and fit ignite into a macro with countdown, and have 2 points into Soul Fire. Charged is a waste of points.

    Default Macro Update Question?

    #show Fireball
    suppressmacrofailures
    cast Inferno
    cast Countdown
cast lightning strike <--- Remove or Leave in?
    cast Fireball
    cast Ignite

    Using the 35/31 you linked.

I thought the same but i tested it. Using Flame Bolt in the macro pushes your dps (test was about 5 Minutes. First only fireball + flame blot for buff. Second was with the macro)

And I run exactly the same specc and its quite a good dps!

The problem with this macro is the amount of casts. Fireball does alot of damage after "Heat Wave". With this macro you might be unlucky and cast Heat Wave when Countdown and Lighnting strike is ready. So you lose all your extra dmg. Dont use ligthning strike and countdown in your macro. Cast Dountdown during movement.

Why should you use ignite? Fireball has no couldown so ignite is useless.

    Just use this:

    #show Cinder Burst
    suppressmacrofailures
    petattack
    petcast Ball Lightning
    petcast Electrify
    cast Inferno
    cast Flame Bolt
    cast Fireball

Should i be building macro for normal casting building Charge.

Then have another macro for when using Heatwave/IE and trinkets?

    #show Fireball
    suppressmacrofailures
    cast Flame Bolt
    cast Fireball
    cast Inferno
    cast Inferno
    cast Ignite

Bind Inferno to another key to use on CD.

You know how macros work? They go from top to bottom line...so it makes no difference if you place 1 "Inferno" or 20 "inferno" in it^^. And again...Fireball has NO Cooldown. So you will only cast Flame Bolt and Fireball with this macro and nothing else

    #show Fireball
    suppressmacrofailures
    cast Flame Bolt
    cast Fireball
    cast countdown
    cast Ignite

when you use heat wave only cast fireball not the macro. i put countdown and ignite after fireball so if you are running you can still keep casting stuff. if you have any more questions bluedot has a great guide

31 Ele? You sacrifice "Channel Elements"? Where do you get your mana from during AoE?
