    Default Mobility spec?

I am thinking about creating a mage alt, but the difficulty I've had playing mages in the past is lack of mobility. Which spec would allow for some mobility, ie has a fair number of instant cast and channeled skills?

Or is that just not really a part of the play style for mages in general?

Necrolock has a good amount of spells cast on the move, though many are dots.

Mages are casters. You'll generally find them having to cast.

Warlock/Necro are the only places you'll find substantial damage from instants. Pyro has a lot of instants, but your main nuke is Fireball and it's a 2s cast.

I do like working with DOTs... I guess casting times are just something to get used to. I'm sure I'll learn to adjust.

    Thank you

If your goal is PvP, you should know that DoTs are completely insignificant. They're really only a threat if there's no healers.

Lock/necro isn't solely about DoTs. It has channeled abilities and you can spec into Opportunity, which makes your next spell insta-cast when it procs, which is fairly frequent. I've had plenty of success with it in the 1x, 2x, and 3x PvP brackets. In world PvP I almost always get the kill on same-levels who jump me.

    Very mobile.
