Cool Rift Mage (Necromancer/Chloromancer) leveling build Video

Hey everyone, I made a few videos today after getting a lot of PM's about my build. This is strictly a PvE build I'm using, and I wanted to make some videos of spell queues. These are just a few videos showing how I prefer to play my mage as I've leveled up. Check them out if you're interested, and let me know if anyone has any questions or suggestions as well. Thanks!

This was also my first video, if anyone has recording tips (I have full Fraps version) about recording resolutions that would help with the grainy images, please let me know.

I'm getting some messages that the links 2-5 aren't working correctly. Once you're in youtube just click my name (Paladinpumph) at the top to navigate to the others. They worked fine before but not now, I'm still looking into it, thanks.

    Default Spec

I've gotten several messages asking about my spec as I failed to mention it before, here's a few links and a little advice as well:

    Level 35:

    http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0zwRs.AtczVtk0s.Vdbz

    Level 40:

    http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0zwRs.EtszVtk0s.Vdbzm

    Level 45:

    http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0zwRs.EtszVtk0s.Vdbzm

(Natures Fury - pet stays alive much more)
(Living Shell - now AoE is even easier with this shield on)

    Final level 50:

    http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0z...k0s.Vdhuazcz0M

(I maxed Consumption on necro with last point, or you could have more healing 3% if you wanted in chloro)

This is strictly for PvE, there's better specs when dealing with getting jumped (I'm on PvP server), but I've turned a few things around nicely with this spec. While lacking fear and only having 1 stun every 30sec, the survivability is great. Put the Stun right next to Transmorgify so if you get jumped at all, hit one then the next, if players see you casting transmorgify they'll use one of their many interrupts on you. Get distance, use debuffs that don't break damage, send in pet. Remember Transmorg doesn't heal them, so if you're smart about it, don't have a dot on them around the time stun is back online after 30seconds, do it again

i have a necro/chloro build that i use to solo elites and group quest and when i dont particularly care about pumping the max dps possible in an expert cause our tank is squishy (necro/chloro can do 450+ dps in experts pretty easily)

however for pve levelling especially at the level of these videos - the 40's - necro/lock just trumps them all in terms of killing speed using a zealot both aoe and just single target grinding.

I've heard of that method too and I'm going to try it out when I have more time. I've read too much that people have trouble keeping the Skeletal Knight taunting and in control of the mobs, so I decided to explain a few things in some videos about my understanding and breezy leveling.

I was necro/lock into my mid twenties and switched and haven't went back too often. Once I had these heals, they were too much to give up. I hope some people try it out if they're having trouble staying alive or want more utility, as until a patch or two comes along, our DPS isn't really what we're best at for groups and instances.

I'm going to check out some videos, hopefully theres a decent amount on youtube too. This is my alternative to give up some dps and have a lot more survivability and use to your shard/groups/rifts. With this build and spec I may not level quite as fast as the spec you've suggested or some other spec, but I get more frustrated without these heals and dying, or simply always hoping to get close to rogue/warrior dps, that this is a fun alternative.

    Thanks for the feedback

Can you please list what you would use at level 15 and 25?

With that you will make the perfect reference guide for noobies

I took the builds and scaled them for 15 and 25 for my newbie mage. Here's what I did:

    Level 15

    Level 25

It's worked out for me so far. I'm Level 21 right now... so working toward my 25 build.

Thanks for the build suggestions and videos!

I myself played a lot with chloro healing along with a main necro spec and it was good. But as soon as i tasted the power of the warlock mixed with the necro, my dmg propulsed to stars and my survivability and AOE madness was even higher than in my chloro hybrid life.

You have to try it and live it to understand, though it works better at higher level, like 35-40+ since you have more pts for synergies.

I don't think theres 2 souls with so much good synergies like necro and lock honestly.

    The build : http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0z...Vpkzs.xsoA0Vqx

    Pet : Zealot powa !
Routine : Run and grab 6 mobs by dotting them (necrosis/dark touch while running, life leech before preparing aoe) , build charge, then aoe with devouring shadows (which generate charges too, not in tooltip), add any bonus like lich/sacrifice, when health goes low --> mortality --> heal back to full, AOE again. Use soul purge on a single to heal you and your pet, dot, build charge, rinse and continue. All this while your zealot rip them from behind too.

    Notes: Warlock gives you :

    +20 % spell damage
    +5 % crit
+35% DOT bonus dmg (practically all your spells are dot, that's good !)
More health, more healing than only a soul purge.
More charge for Mortality/Soul Purge/reconstruct thus more healing.
More CC : fear, wither, silence for casters (which then go on melee mode)

For Archon, you have another dot which gives you a 5 min +50 endurance buff in a few seconds which stacks with you warlock nedra might buff for +40 endurance.

+90 endurance and +10% health, that's nice for a solo pve build. And your emergency "shadow life" will makes you looks like an abomination. (boost me for like +2500 health when in trouble like aoeing more mobs than planned or an elite joining the fray).

Also, here's a small necro/lock trick to get at full charge while out of combat (useful to start a fight, heal you back to full or anything else) :

Use "Blood binding" hot on your pet. Since it does to you a hot for dmg, it's really small even if you spam it. It gives you 13 charge each (+25% with lock talent). Spam it a few times, get your charge and go.

More tricks to discover while playing, the necro/lock is wonderful for solo, a mage won't look back.
