Default Crushing Blow and Massive Blow

What are your numbers with Crushing Blow and Massive Blow? Because I'm only seeing a 10-20 point difference in their damage. Shouldn't the ability that gets so much focus be, y'know, worth focusing on in the first place?

Honestly, our "DPS" spec lines need some "finisher" type moves. These moves should be the ones on a 8-10 second CD, since we have no combo mechanic or anything like the other classes. All our abilities seem like they basically do the same damage. It is pretty stale, honestly.

i think if they want our damage to be front loaded, they should make that front load damage really pack a wallop

I've been playing mainly Shaman this beta, and I gotta agree. I think the mechanics are fine, but unless there is a drastic difference between a 51-point Shaman or close to that and a pre 36-point Shaman, then it does need some damage tuning.

I'm thinking along the lines of some simple love for Massive Blow, make it hurt more, leave the mechanics, I actually like them (you have to spec deep to use it efficiently, +crit, cd reset proc, etc).

i actually hate making massive blow all of our damage. And I hate having to spec 51 points to get good damage. That's not the way I was sold on the game. I was sold on soul customization. Everyone taking 51 points is not customized...

And with the way they have Massive Blow so buffed, it's looking like the best damage is going to be as many massive blows as possible, which means only attacking with massive blow and crushing blow and the reactives. No lightning hammers, no attacks from other trees. If your using an ability that doesn't trigger more massive blows, then you're wasting a GCD. That's what 51 point shaman will be, and that's awfully bland...

Avalanche Strike & Strike of the Maelstrom is where all the fun's at (using Agelss Ice on CD to keep mana up). Are you guys seriously just 1v1 every PvE mob that comes along? Or is this a PvP discussion?

Edit: Throw in Rage of the North when you get there before hitting Maelstrom/Avalanche & you're really doing some dps.

when we're taking about pve, we aren't taking about leveling at all. We're talking about instance bosses and eventually raid bosses. Leveling is so easy you can do it with any combination of souls and no points spent. There's no point talking about the damage a soul does for leveling when it's do inconsequential...

I wasn't specifying either. It's just that, with all of the attention that Massive Blow is getting in the Shaman tree, shouldn't it be doing more than a few points more than the filler ability? You would figure that the Shaman's hard hitter would, y'know, hit hard...

he's referencing the 36th root that's supposed to fix or damage at level 50 with 51 points spent in the shaman tree
