Default Spell Power or Crit Power Essences?

As the title suggests, should dps clerics use SP or CP essences?

Would you mind explaining why CP wins over raw SP?

Due to the really high crit rate of inquis, cp is worth about 0.92 spell power. Meaning, if you have a piece of gear that has 100 spell power, and a piece if gear, all else being equal, 109 or more cp, you will gain more dps from the cp item. Since cp items usually have around 40% more cp than equivalent items have sp, cp gear wins out.

Side note, cp is less valuable for healing specs and oracle. However, something to remember if you are building only one sigil:
It is easier to heal well in cp gear than it is to do competitive dps in sp gear.

Can I ask when this changed so drastically? Over on Rift Scene, Rift scene does not have CP close to .92 for Inquisitor.

And also, how do you come up with the .92 number. Not disputing, just curious how these numbers are arrived at.

Spell power is a flat increase, crit power is multiplicative.

That being said, essences are very RNG, until you have a large selection available to you, expert and raid tier ones will always end up beating out most of the world blues even with "bad" secondary stats.

Inq got some recent changes and your crit rate is much higher now. Riftscene's values aren't current.

Hell, it doesn't even matter that it changed. Ever since CP was introduced, it was always an upgrade over SP for cleric dps. In SL, if you weren't trying to get to 1194cp with charred flame source, you weren't optimized. The only difference is that the cp need was largely driven by shaman and not inquis

And if you're looking for stat weights, it doesn't seem like you looked very hard, considering this thread by pokesi is top of the page in cleric guides. Heck, I should've just linked this from the getgo

RiftScene isn't updated outside of the BiS list from discovery logs - I'm guessing that's an automatic process where they just pull the files from Trion's ftp. As such, stuff like stat values for specs that you see on Rift Scene are probably older than Nov/Dec 2013, which is around the time Qube stopped updating the site.

Rift gate thinking about creating it's own BIS calculator?
