Default Inquisitor Wisdom vs. Spell Power

    Hi All,
Wondering what the conventional thinking is re cleric's Inquisitor spec - Wisdom vs. Spell Power.

I've seen some snippets, but was hoping for more feedback. For example, spending points in the Purifier tree - would give zip except for the option to obtain more wisdom.
    Thanks,
    Diz

iirc currently Wisdom wins out over spellpower in terms of runes on your gear. as for points spent in soul tree's I think 10% spellpower over 10% Wisdom is still slightly better. I might be wrong but this is how ive set up my build.

you mentioned Purifier as an off soul? may I ask why you chose that as an example over say Defiler or Cabalist for the wisdom increase?

Generally, % spell power >> % wisdom due to the greater sp pool. However, it is better to use the wisdom runes on weapons these days because of the larger stat numbers giving both sp and sc at 0.75 & 0.25 to 1 ratios respectively.

Default Wisdom vs. SP- Soul Tree & Runes

I retract, that, the mention of purifier off-soul.
What I should have said was- I was examining the following traits:

    Defiler – Open Minded – 5/5 = +10% wisdom
    Cabalist – Stroke of Genius– 5/5 = +10% wisdom
    vs.
    Oracle - Confidant- 5/5 = +10% spell power
So, was wondering if points spent in Oracle to obtain spell power was favorable.
Thanks for the input, including the discussion of Wisdom Runes

The short and simple answer is that Confidant is the best of those 3.

But Defiler gives Rage Blight which is better than everything as soon as you get damaged.

We were just discussing this yesterday.

    Default Wiz vs. SP= Inquisitor

I know this issue comes up every year, here are excerpts from three old threads that made me ask what is current:

    1) As for wisdom, since you calculate SP via 0.75 * wis; 10% wis = 7.5% SP.
and 2.5% SP difference is better than 5% damage; so 10% SP > 10% wisdom.

    2) +10% Spellpower outdoes +10% damage quite handily (as explained above), and gives much more spellpower than the equivalent wisdom bonus as you only get 0.75 SP per point of wisdom and your wisdom is much lower than your spellpower. The only reason a subspec in Defiler beats out a subspec in Sentinel is because the +5% Rage Blight damage bonus is an active buff, and is thus multiplicative with everything else (except some self buffs).

    3) The issue with damage bonuses is that there are many, including gifts.
Each of these are stacked multiplicatively, not additively (so 5% + 5% is not 10%, it's 9.09%) and thus the more of the similar natured bonuses of you have, the overall sum is lowered, making any additional damage modifiers not that great.

    4) When choosing Defiler, do any of the damage buffs rely on our health being >90%?
    Thanks for the discussion,
    Diz

Except that rage blight is not just a simple multiplicative dmg bonus. Rage blight is in a special buff category (active buffs, which is different than +%dmg straight from the tree), making it by far more valuable than the extra 2.5% SP.
