Default Justicar - Censure + Hammer of Faith question.

    Hello,

Been playing a cleric lately, and using the Seraphic Guard preset.

Just a bit earlier got the Hammer of Faith skill, and was excited about it's effect with Censure, the Hammer is supposed to spread the Censures effect up to 10 enemies, if hit by it.

So i go out and pull a pile of mobs, gather them near me and slap one of them with censure, followed by the hammer. Then i cycle targets quickly with tab to see if the spread effect has worked, only to notice that about half of the mobs are actually uneffected by it.

Is this working as intended? That the spread effect has some 50% propability to miss the nearby foes?

If the hammer hit them then censure will spread with it, but the hammers effect is relatively small, so perhaps you just didn't actually hit them all.

Mess about with the dumbies in TB and you'll get an idea of what sort of area you can work with.

All foes were in melee range. Doing more experimenting.

Tested this yesterday and it is spreading with both hammers. Just make sure you apply Censure first and the spread range is fairly limited so the mobs need to be stacked.

Censure and Hammer of Faith (and Hammer of Duty for that matter) are all ranged attacks.
You need to Censure an enemy in the middle of a group and hit them, because Hammer of Faith hits enemies 'in melee range' of that enemy, not in melee range of you.

Actually, considering many enemies are quite large, the AoE is probably smaller than the melee range of the average dungeon mob.

You did everything right. People responding are completely off base with their reasoning. You said you had just recently picked up the skill, so therefor you had just recently hit lvl 40. The skill reads"if hit by hammer of faith", at level 40 most characters (unless in pvp gear) lack "hit". Hammer of faith acts like most other aoe abilities, each mob has a separate chance for the attack to hit or not. When you are level 40 you probably have close to 0 hit rating, you will miss with a lot of your attacks.

So basically what is happening is that you are "missing" some mobs with your hammer of faith and therefor censure is not being applied. Once you get up to lvl 50 with a full set of 25 hit pieces this problem will go away. Nothing is broken or bugged, and you don't need to have all the mobs on top of each other, the hit radius for hammer of faith is actually rather large.
