Default Puri shields and greater/trinket procs -- when do they get applied?

Is it before damage is modified by the player's defensive stats, or is it after?

For instance, a 2k bubble on a tank with 80% physical damage reduction, does a 10k boss hit actually do 2k damage (removing the bubble) thus doing 0 damage to the tank, or does it do 10k - 2k = 8k, then take 20% of that which is 1600.

I'm not really in a position to test this right now but this seems pertinent, especially towards what happens in PvP.

Basically, the question is: Are shields awesome, or do they suck.

Seems odd that you have to ask at all, but shields are applied last.

A 800 damage shield from a puri/sent's RF absorbs the full amount, at least from all the parses I have observed in ACT so far.

Damage To shields is applied after the tank's damage reduction... so if tank has 50% damage reduction and takes a 600(originally 1200) damage hit, and you pop a 800 absorb shield on him the shield will have 200 hits left on it.

    Does that make sense?

Being applied last is also the reason that warriors and clerics can get a "Blocked" message with no damage values.

Your blocked DR applied to the damage, then was reduced to zero by the shield.
