So hopefully I can shed some light on this topic. 51 Purifier is absolutely terrible. The reason it became so FotM was because of Greenscale healing early on. Everyone said it was the tank healing spec, and it was. The [B][I]only[B][I] reason it was good is because of the healing debuff (75% less healing) from Greenscale on the breathe. Damage mitigation >>>>>>>>>>> Healing when a healing debuff is involved (also in general). So the shields from Puri reigned supreme. Also this was back when all of the T2 gear was stacked with SP and less stats, and had almost no crit on any T2 items.

I have NO idea why people even mention Herald and 51 Purifier. Herald has a breathe....but that was never the point of the 51 Purifier, the healing debuff was. 51 Purifier is actually terrible for Herald healing, if for whatever reason the MT gets debuffed you don't have a Healer's Covenant to negate the debuff with and keep him alive.

34 Purifier and 32 Sent is more than capable in the current gear levels of being used for Greenscale, I would actually use it over 51 Purifier. It is actually way more healing also. When you sit at 30-35% crit on RF's in T2 gear that is a lot of 1.5 casts. The 51 Purifier RF shield only shields for an extra ~400 with high gear levels. The amount of shields you get on him will be about the same with all of the Serendipity procs you will get, with that extra healing from that extra RF.

Please, please, understand 51 Purifier is absolutely terrible.

It really isn't as terrible as your post.

51 Purifier is an excellent tank healer, with some really nice cooldowns. If you already have plenty of ae heals in your raid then run Purifier if you want, or 32 Pur/32 Sent if you want.

Neither is terrible, neither is needed (most fights), it is a preference. you aren't going to parse high since shields don't parse, but if you are looking at a heal parses to determine what spec is good you have already failed.

Is it worth it to run a 51 point purifier?

I am always assigned to main tank heal during raids and i run the cookie cutter 34/32 pur/sent build.

It does its job, but I like the idea of having more shields to absorb damage, especially in fights like greenscale and herald.

I am just wondering if anyone uses this build and if they like it, or if its worth it.

Only thing i dont like is no battle rez and I have to gear with sp in mind, which kinda sucks since i use ward/sent sometimes and you need crit for that.

Any comment would be helpful. Thank you.
Q: Is it worth it to run a 51 point purifier?
A: If you are strictly heals and nothing else; than yes, it is worth having a 51 Purifier build in your line-up. It is supposed to be used on fights or in different scenarios for which the Main Tank/Off Tank will surely die because they are taking too much spike damage that cant be healed through without heavy mitigation. You have already mentioned some of the cons of having the build yourself.

It is probably the last cleric build you want to use if you are doing raid healing. But if your only job is to keep up one individual throughout an encounter, you simply can not beat 51 Purifier.

When was the last time you tested the Ancestral Flame shields?

It needs some fixes. But as said, it is #1 in single target healing. Don't look down on Surging Flame's ability to AoE heal though. Although it requires your tank to be at 100% HP to be truly effective.

To throw out some ideas for fixes to the trees:
Make Blessing an hour duration buff and nerf them slightly.
--Fiery- Increases your crit % by 1% every time you do not crit on a heal up to 10%. When you do crit it resets.
--Healing- Remake this one as a stand alone buff.
--Caregiver's- Procs of crits(since it is the only healing tree to gain no real benefit from crit)
Divine Cascade sucks, remove it. Replace it with an AoE shield.
--"Shields your target and those within 15 yards of your target, abosrbing X damage per target, and X per damage total."
Sterilize, why is it the only one with a long cooldown? I find myself using the other two much much much more when I play the other spec's. Only thing I can see is PvP issues coming up, could easily just put it higher in the tree since Purifier isn't great there anyway and this would be it's PvP utility.
Right of the Ancestors changed to, "Absorbs 20% of incoming damage on the target for the next 15 seconds, absorbing up to X damage."

Rework the tree a little to mach the blessing changes and make the shields scale a little better.
Maybe even skip the scaling increase as the Caregiver idea would fix that as gear goes up.

After the 36 point changes took place....with full SP t3 set. I think 34/32 was shielding for ~800, 51 Purifier was 1180 or something. Search for the thread where I did the testing.

So, with 1436 SP it was

    815 for 34/32
    1388 for 51 Purifier

Most people will be more in line with 1200 SP because they will be stacking a lot more crit rather than the crap they had on Alpha. So it would get less of a SP bonus as 51 Purifier because people just won't be at 1400 SP unbuffed. And I am talking full T3 sets. 51 Purifier will be much much worse with people in t2 gear.

But the difference is till like ~500 on shields, that is absolutely terrible for the amount of pure healing you give up, not to mention cool downs.

Still, my tank has 550 more hp than your tank. Looking at it situationally, that can be a wipe or no wipe. It all depends on what you're using it for. You are indeed trading a lot of other things for quite some stronger tankhealing, but sometimes it's that bit you need.

I love healing as purifier51, it makes me feel like I'm giving the tank godlike powers. But I ahrdly get to use the spec, as it often isn't the most efficient spec for the situation.
When it is though, I'm having a blast healing.
