This is what i have to deal with when try to find a group as inq. Our dps is pretty damn good and we can purge and throw in an Oh **** heal to save the tank or healer. But i cant find a group unless im healer spec because of clowns like this guy.

We all can have 4 different roles. I'm a lvl41 cleric, with 1 dps rol, 1 heal rol, 1 tank rol and 1 rol to check different souls. So i can do everything in a dungeon. Usually i find group as melee dps, but i've tanked an healed in some instances if i had to. And where is the problem? We are the most versatile class in the game. Let's use it!

Also there are other options. Create your own group, or go with your guildmates, that usually they are not asshols and let you to be whatever you want.

I've seen main tank Clerics that I could keep alive far easier than any warrior in dungeons and raids

I've seen dps specced Clerics on top dps lists alll the time (myself included) pvp and pve.

I've seen healing Clerics heal better than any other class

I was posting it in regards to person he quoted. I.e. that post he was referencing, not the original poster of this thread as it were.

And when I realized that it could be misconstrued as me not paying attention and writing it about the OP of this thread, I tried to edit my post for the appropriate tenses. But it said 5 minutes had past and wouldn't let me edit my post. Even though I had JUST posted it.

Rogues can heal and tank, are they?
Mages can heal are they?
Warriors can tank / dps....
Clerics can do it all....

This game is built around complete diversity, no one class should tell another class to fill a role when they themselves can do it as well. It'll take awhile for people to realize this is not wow where class a HAS to do this and class b HAS to do that.

People also fail to realize that a dpsing cleric also heals the grp with dmg while doing decent dmg and buffing.....

Stop comparing apples to oranges and trying to generalize classes, you wont find that in this game. You rogues complaining about melee clerics in bgs, why dont you roll bard and aoe heal if you feel its so necessary to a win?

Ive only had this issue with one group.

I rolled a cleric solely to get access to the druid soul, I have no intrest in playing a pure healer and am usually up their with other classes no problem whilst playing my druid.

Someone who is used to playing their build will always perform far better than someone forced into a build by others.

That one time i did get forced into a healing spec by the leader of a party I prooved, without a shadow of a doubt to the lil prick I hadnt a clue how to play a healing cleric, leaving him dead and ranting whilst I left the party, respecced back to my druid and went into the dungeon with the rest of the party and finished it with no drama.

Most pvp matches I am damage and I am #1 or 2 in damage and kills.

This is silly. Maybe 5 years ago. Shadow priests and feral and balance druids raid all the time and do just fine.. herp derp. It sounded cute though, so grats on that.

As to the overall point, I think it's pretty clear Rift is about allowing characters the flexibility to be different things, and there's no way in hell they will allow clerics to get boxed into healing only. If cleric DPS is sub-par now in raiding, expect buffs.

After reading this post yesterday i was like "wtf it's time to roll a only cleric guild" ...

can we heal ? YES WE CAN

can we tank ? YES WE CAN

can we dps ? YES WE CAN

we just miss stealth


no realy... yesterday in moonshire highlands (or what ever the name of the zone is) we fought a Major Rift... we had no tank... only me as cleric and 3 rogues and a mage.

I said i could tank the elite mobs and if someone could heal... no rogue had a bard roll... the mage had a chloro roll but the healing wasn't so good...

but the point in this story is that in such a case the people should be able to switch to a bard roll to heal a tank or to switch to a tank roll... if i join a group im offering all my 3 rolls tank/dps/heal ... sure i like dps most, like most people do, but i also offer 2 rolls a to a group with tank and healer that are not so much played.

if i see the story above i just wrote i need to say that i have to deal with many Tanks, Mages and Rogues which won't take a healer or tank soul and i have to deal with ignorant people that run around focused on dps and ignoring the options to make forming groups easy.

Seems like Im on a very mature server. Never got kicked as a dps cleric,
no one ever told me "switch to healer or I kick you"

Pretty much the opposite I recieved several compliments about my AoE capability.
Plus I have decent single target damage so its win-win.

Exactly, i have never heard any of this hate towards DPS Clerics. I love playing in groups that are warrior-less. Much smoother with all the heals flying around from everyone.

Tbh you must be a noob to think that Clerics can only be one role.

This is what a cleric should be thinking about:

1.) Healer - For about everything. Nobody can do this better than you.
2.) Tank - You can tank like a beast and heal yourself if you have a sucky healer
3.) DPS - Stay away from for grps - Intended for Solo Leveling

The guy has a point though, if you want a DPS guy you probably should really role a totally different class. Clerics should be healing for PvP though, without a healing cleric the team will surely lose.
