I keep a combat parser, My Cleric does more DPS then rogues, warriors, mages. I haven't even perfected my DPS build yet - I'm sure I can get higher.


At the moment, I do about 460 dps single target, 1k-1.4k dps AoE.
The Warrior that I team up with does about the exact same. And we always top on the DPS charts.
This Data comes from the Elite Dungeons.

So please. Stop bashing our Tank/Heals/DPS

Simple explanation for this. You're other dps are bad and don't know their rotation. Any rogue or warrior worth their snuff will be doing 750-1k dps.

In short, beating bads doesn't prove that Inq's do dps. All it shows is that a non-******ed person can beat monkeys.

Clerics can heal yes. They can tank pretty good too. Can they dps? ROFL NO. Heal or go home. No one wants a cleric dpsing. You will not be getting expert lvl dungeons or raids as a dps cleric. Go tank or go heals but roll a REAL class if you want to pewpew.

btw reading it again, I totally agree with you. Creative playing is the way to go, it takes time tho to change perceptions.

These cleric damage nerfs aren't helping us at all tho :/

Even if we get buffed up to the correct amount, it will still take time for us clerics to be accepted.

I haven't done the end game instances. Are there brutal dps races where you simply must min/max the group, excluding certain classes? I have no problem doing an AoE spec for trash, being a second healer on one boss, and being a druid for single target + debuffs on the next.

I've certainly had bosses in the lowbie instances where it was just me (on warden) and the tank left alive slowly killing the boss. (Pro-tip: warden doesn't save people standing in fire well)

I understand people wanting top damage. If you're a tank and a healer and there's 1000 dps lfg, you're going to pick what you think are the best ones.

But assuming you have friends / guild mates, you're starting the group, I'd hate to see encounters where the boss say enrages and becomes unkillable after 5 minutes making a build that does say 80% of the dps of the min/max fotm build useless. Warhammer did this. Aion did this somewhat with the s-grade runs. I hope this isn't the case in Rift.

I dont care if there's no cleric build that has the highest dps of all classes unless the game mechanics force me to care.

Here are the facts, its quite simple really. YOU give ME a ROGUE/MAGE with the SAME gear as MY CLERIC, and I will beat him hands down on your little parses ALL DAY LONG. Whats that.... trash??. I have an AOE spec that at the very worst is EVEN with mages... Single target, WHAAAT i have a spec for that to? That if played properly will shut down the rogue ( mages negligible ) Oah EMM Gee. Not going to say I beat "LOL" warriors, because in the games current state that's just not possible. However with that same single target boss dps spec I can toss out off heals, or at the very least keep myself alive.

One of the reasons I left WoW (after almost 6 years of gaming) was because it was full of purile, immature halfwits. I was hoping RIFT would have a more mature player base.

I Played an Enhancement shaman in WoW because I loved the reaction I got when I topped DPS tables. Everyone expects mages and rogues to do good DPS. Infact your failing if you dont top DPS tables as a mage or a rogue. But no one expects a hybrid to do such good DPS. I like the challenge of getting the absolute best out of hybrids just to see if I can compete with the specialists (if there even is such a thing in rift).

And remember, while I'm matching you at DPS I am also, purging, interpting, slowing and debuffing the target, all of which helps your performance.

Damn i hate people that flam others and have no clue of the mechanics of one class...

I'm a cleric, I play as DPS...

I also play as Tank...

and i also play as Healer...

two days ago we did KB with *drums* ...

4 Clerics + 1 Warrior

and hell it was the best KB run i had so far and we did it twice in around 60 min...

yesterday i tryed to heal KD with a Purifier/Warden spec ... so i only had the AoE HoT and the 1st Boss was impossible because both mages didn't used any support spec... the Boss pulled everyone and used an AoE-attack with 1500 damage (the mages had 1500), i used my AoE HoT but it wasn't able to heal all the damage... bammm two mages insta down at the next pull... all they said "he who is healing... last time we didn't die"

you know what i'm not interested in healing for people that only complain about a class and people playing this class and only think of dps, even if there class get tools to support.

I will always prefer a dps-cleric who heal's the group while doing damage over a selfish mage that only wanna see big numbers.


Edit: Btw where are the "Why don't do tanks there job and tank ?" i can't count the number of pure dps-tanks out there...
