Default WTF boost my dmg for RB and Reaver int? str? Help!@!

Well After spending about 40 mins with google trying to fing out what boost my dmg thought Id ask for help.
As a Reaver I do death dmg spells, As a Rift blade Fire and others.

Anyhow I Thought that int + spell power stats would boost my dmg..
    I took off about 300 SP items/gear (like + 50 sp dmg)
And seen that my spells for BOTH classes where yep.... the same as with the + 300 sp!!!
exp. 30 dmg a tick with soul sickness (reaver)
    30 dmg with 300+int
    (switch gear)
    30 dmg with 250 str/ap (-300int)

Ok so you might say you need str-ap not int-sp.
Well I put on my champ gear I still had, about + 240 str, and good ap.
Still nothing. So.. Should I just run around naked? Kinda lame to have classes that you cant buff up with stats.

Am I wrong or WTF plz help thx. Flame all you want hf

I think he is saying that he tried to use int and SP item to see if they boosted the damage of both the rift blade's and reaver's non-physical attacks and found no increase. Next, he tried stacking strength and AP to boost the damage and again found no increase. Now, he is wondering what does increase the damage on their non-physical attacks.

Everything is boosted by a % with STR / AP BUT the values are still FAR too low to show any noticeable change in melee "magic" damage skills.

You more than likely will not notice a change because of enemy Armor and Elemental resist values being calculated into your Base damage and AP/Str modifiers. Basically your making yourself stronger to nullify defenses not to make yourself hit visibly harder. This value is changed however when you crit...that is when your str/ap modifier kicks in the most basically making it additive to its value for the damage calculation. Think SkillBaseDamage x 2.0critmodifier + StrAPval = total dmg possible / (opponentarmorvalue + opponentelementresist) = overAllDmg or visible damage
Also if you hover over your AP text in your stat menu it will say increases damage per second by x amount. If it says increases by 12.6 DPS do you really think you'll notice 12.6 dps, not likely.

Your str and ap will boost your physical MELEE skills by a bunch though.

Yeah you're going to need epic gear to see improvement, low levels don't count, it all balances at endgame.

Not really, it all cancels each other out epic gear def vs epic gear atk.

Now epic gear atk vs greens/blues you will see the diff. I see it with full rift / pvp set vs people in greens since hitting 25. Considering I don't quest, and spend 90% of the day pvp in WF or rift soloing in scarlet gorge I am kind of amazed I'm broke because I never spend a dime on anything but 10g enchantments and soul heals.

I have tried to figure this out as well.
My conclusion is that the gear is pretty much not a factor while leveling.

Even Bard stuff that says Weapon Damage + whatever actually just varies by one or two damage with much better equipment.

I am starting to think it is the same across all the classes. So all the shiny new loot isn't garnering you that much extra I think.

The only thing that might really be working is armor.

it all works, you just don't notice it because of how low stat values are atm.
